Music From The Motion Picture P.S. I Love You

First - the movie is fantastic! Everyone is perfect in their roles, the Irish landscape is breathtaking, and Gerry Butler steals the show as always with his talent, charm, and charisma. I've seen the movie several times, so far, and can't wait to buy that DVD!

His songs are mostly the best parts of the movie (along with another very memorable Gerry moment) - so where are those numbers on the "soundtrack?" Gerry's "Love You to the End", "Mustang Sally", "Galway Girl", and the song sung at the wake-called Gerry Kennedy's favorite, with the priest joining in on the words (hilarious)- those numbers, and "If I Ever Get Out of This World Alive" were the reason I intended to buy this CD. I won't be buying it with only one of the best songs from the movie.
Can we say: S O U N D T R A C K ? We want Gerry...and the rest of the songs from the movie.

I love this movie and I love the music, but the soundtrack is lacking. First of all, the wake song, "Fairytale of New York" by the Pogues is, is omitted. The soundtrack is not complete without this song.

And where are Gerry's songs? I've got "Galway Girl" on another CD with Steve Earle and I thought that was THE version. So, I was wrong.

The CD is not bad, but it could have been great if they'd included all the music from the movie.

As a Gerard Butler fan, I bought the CD in anticipation of the movie. I expected to come home and write a great review for the CD. However, I am SO disappointed. Where are Gerry's songs? For that matter, where is Hilary's song? Despite what Harry Connick Jr. told her, she did sing well. Oh, listen to me, I am rambling on. Disappointment does that to a person.

Let me deal with what fans have been dealt: this particular CD with these particular artists. It's not their fault. I have several favorites:

"Carousel,"Laura Izibor--love her bluesy/jazzy voice
"Fortress," Hope--her voice has the right melancholy
"My Sweet Song," Toby Lightman--my favorite, she sings a pure torch song
"No Other Love," Chuck Prophet--another great one, raspy voice
"If I ever leave this world alive" Flogging Molly--pure Irish

Side note: Nellie McKay, who sings the title song, plays Hilary's sister.
One national reviewer suggested Jennifer Garner would have played the role lighter. I beg to differ: Hilary Swank was perfect. Gerard Butler was perfect. Everyone was perfect, even Danny from Grey's Anatomy, who played Gerry's friend in Ireland.

I look forward to many more hours of listening pleasure from this CD. There, I'm over it. Can't wait to buy the DVD!!

I love this movie. Is a must see to anyone overcoming any kind of love loss. As Holly's mother says: is not easier being left by choice than by death. All of us had been sometime of our life in Holly's shoes.
I am a huge fan of soundtracks, so I always take care of movie's music when I'm seeing it. I loved this movie's music since I saw it from first time. Gerard Butler voice is just perfect. His voice is what creates the charming atmosphere of the movie, creating a balance between Holly's sadness and Gerry's happiness of having such wife and an awesome life at her side. That's the movie real triumph: though Gerry's songs we get from the beginning pieces of what we know clearly when his final letter: I'm a man of no regrets. You were my whole life, but for yours, is only a chapter. Go on.

If Gerry's voice have such important role in the movie, why, why, WHY, we can't find a single song singed by him in the soundtrack? This soundtrack doesn't keep the movie atmosphere. The Pongues version of I Love You to the End is really great, but hearing it at first song of the soundtrack, and remembering the movie while hearing it leaves a feeling that their version of I Love You till the end is not meant to be there, in first place: should be in last. When you keep going into the other songs, as someone review before me, every song touches your heart, but at the same time, you know that something is missing. Gerry's charisma is missing.

Besides Gerry's song, there are other songs that also are missing. Here is the complete list, I think.

Hilary Swank's song in the second karaoke. I don't care that the movie jerk told she sang awfully: I loved it.

Fairytale of New York - the Pogues. I can't believe it was left out!
Galway girl, Gerry's version
Mustang Sally, Gerry's version
I love till the end, Gerry's version - This is, in my opinion, the biggest missing.

Get off - Prince, Hillary's version.
Hey Lloyd - Camera Obscura. The song in the beginning credits.

Finally, this movie have also great instrumental music. Where is it? Kisses and Cake is just not enough. A lot of very good instrumental music can be found through the movie. May be is pieces of the same song? I tried to figure out, and I don't think they are the same song. The intrumental music that I loved most is in the part Holly is carried to her apartment when whe got drunk in her birthday party. I don't see that music in Kisses and Cake. I dont remember other detail, but for sure cant be all in the four minutes of Kisses and Cake. May be some irish instrumental touches are missed also. However, I will definitely keep in touch with John Powell's further soundtracks. I loved his Ice Age soundtrack also.

I reviewed this cd from my best friends cd. I will not buy one for me. Im giving only one star because the lack of this soundtrack is amazing. I think that this cant be the true soundtrack, and if they were capable of doing such great movie, they should make a great soundtrack also. The best way to let they know this is having one less sale.

For a movie that has several of its leading actors singing in the movie, it is extremely puzzling why they chose to issue a soundtrack with only the background music. I, for one, was extremely disappointed to find not one single track sung by Gerard Butler. His vocals in the movie were quite good, and I was looking forward to hearing him sing whole versions of the abbreviated songs we heard in the movie. This is also quite baffling from a marketing standpoint. Gerry Butler has an extremely large and loyal fanbase (the kind most actors would kill for) and by excluding him from the soundtrack, the recording company lost the opportunity to sell a few extra million copies. A glaring omission, indeed!

I just wanted to say, that the music in this movie was FANTASTIC. BUT the whole reason I was going to purchase this album in the first place, was because of Gerry's songs.

THAT was, and still is, the whole reason I wanted to buy the album. I HOPE that someone out there reads these messages, and realizes that they are losing money by not having those on here. Can we cross our fingers and hope for an extended edition cd with these missing gems?

P.S.I LOVE YOU soundtrack isn't. If I had read the reviews and realized Gerry was not included, I probably would not have bought the CD. It is very good, but not for us Gerry Butler fans.

I enjoyed the music during the movie and was considering buying the soundtrack, until I checked which songs were there and found nothing sung by Gerard Butler. I went to the movie specifically because he was in it, as a new fan of his incredible acting abilities, and was impressed by his vocals. Unlike Phantom, where they pushed him beyond his range, the songs he sings in "P.S. I Love You" are quite nice on the ears. They were the best part of the film's music, in my opinion. I won't be buying the soundtrack without them included. I will buy the movie when it comes out.

The producers of Music and Lyrics did the same and many of us refused to buy that, as well. They need to start considering WHY people are looking at buying movie soundtracks when planning which songs to put on them.

Ok, I am a guy who was force to watch the "P.S. I Love You" movie by my wife and I must confess it was well done and I enjoyed it. The music snipets by Gerry (Gerard Butler) were fantastic, especially the "Galway Girl" scene was just perfect. It is very disappointing when you see all the songs and artists listed at the end of the movie and expect them to be on the soundtrack and then they are NOT. I will not be buying the CD or any of the other songs until they correct the "SOUNDTRACK" with all the songs. Sorry for the rambling, but it is amazing to me that some of the greatest songs that made the movie so great are missing.

For a movie with such great music all through out, this soundtrack is extremely lacking. It is missing all of Gerry's songs, the song from his funeral and Hilary Swank's song. I hope they hear the pleas of the fans of this movie, and come out with a second soundtrack with the rest of the music on it.
