In a new 22 piece orchestra Kaada has created a fresh medium to revel in - soft, reflective and mellow, not a style readily associated with the lawless composer. The music was conceived with the notion that the listener would construct mental imagery to coincide with the varying soundscapes presented, hence the title. Kaada has made a name for himself over the years both as a composer of film music and as a extensive touring solo artist. This is his third solo album, but his catalogue also includes releases with Chloroform and a collaborative release with Mike Patton.

This album is captivating from the first notes heard. The music has hints of Ennio Morricone and Nino Rota, but maintains an original sounding production that gives me chills every time I listen to it. It takes the listener on a very gentle, emotional journey, but with quierky, unusual sounds that swirl through the orchestral arrangements. The slight clicking of pump organs and accordions gives a needed organic, disjointed ambience.

If you want to add something strange and beautiful to your music collection, buy this, and also check out the Kaada/Patton collaberation, Romances. Pure genius.

This is easily one of the most rewarding CDs I've purchased in the last ten years. Great for driving, reading, reflecting, relaxing, mindscaping. If you're looking for head banging, look away. Excellent effort, and looking forward to anything Kaada produces in the future. %100 hooked.

i was a mite sceptical when ordering this used because i wondered how much influence patton had on john durring the recording for their romances album(a stunning acheivement)--though it might've been 80% patton bending john to form.not the case;in fact it must've been just the other way around!the music on this album sounds every bit as good as romances,and in some instances possibly even better thanks to some tender female vocals!this cd would be perfect for a campfire,road trip,sitting on the la-z-boy in the den in front of the fireplace in mid january,or just about any intimate setting.i can't name a specific fav track because they all kick booty,but trust me it's worth at least a cheap used purchase!
