Music that Touches your Heart,
By Donna Bailey (Weirton, WV USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Music From a Painted Cave (Audio CD)
Robert Mirabal and Rare Tribal Mob have outdone themselves with the release of their newest CD "Music From A Painted Cave". The music just touches your heart and takes you on a journey that you will never forget. Songs like Little Indians and Hope that inspire hope for current and future generations, An Kah Na a tribute to mothers, and The Dance and Navajo Fires that will have you up dancing. Just to mention a few. It is truely a moving CD and a must have for Mirabal fans as well as anyone wishing to discover the power of Robert Mirabal and RTM music. One only needs to go as far as the messageboard on his website mirabal.com to see how the music is affecting people in a positive way. There have been over 1000 messages of praise since the first airing of the video of the same name. The messages speak volumes alone. Don't miss out on this one!!

A long time fan.,

Robert is a true entertainer with many wonderful and great talents, which is well proven in "Music from a Painted Cave". It is obvious he has worked hard to get where he's at and is surely proud, as he should be. Unfortunately he is sometimes criticized by those who can't see outside the "box". However, if you visit his web page, take a moment to read his bio, find out what makes him who he is and more importantly read the messages from his fans, including over 900 new entries from people who watched this PBS special, hearing him for the very first time and instantly fell in love with his style. Robert is truly a unique performer, his individuality and powerful messages make this CD and video outstanding. What a wonderful mixture of traditional music and dance blended with modern new age and rock; it's beautiful, touching, fun, and most of all SINCERE.

Music From A Painted Cave,

...I went back and listened again. Then I watch the PBS broadcast of MUSIC FROM A PAINTED CAVE. I found it so mesmerizing that I watched the not one but two rebroadcasts of it. I found Robert and Patrick to have a Great sense of humor and a child like innocence that I seemed to vaguely remember having somewhere in my youth. It made me stop and think. I think that it was wonderful of Robert and Patrick Mirabal and theRare Tribal Mob to help support PBS. I found the MUSIC FROM A PAINTED CAVE to be a refreshing sound that seemed to move both my feet, then my heart, then my spirit. Besides enjoying it myself I will be giving it as gifts so that I can share this musical magic with others.

This is a live recording of Robert Mirabal's latest live concert performance, which was aired as a PBS special. I have all of Robert's other CD's and listen to them constantly. Robert is a an award-winning and highly respected Native American artist and this CD is a perfect example of why. It is a mix of both his traditional and contemporary music. Robert's music can touch your soul and heal your spirit, he is one of those extraordinary individuals who has the ability to speak to everyone in a way that no one else can. This CD will lift your spirits and comfort your heart.

The music comes directly from his heart and you can tell that by hearing it and seeing the performance the entire group shares with us! If you never listen to his music you will be missing out on more than you could ever imagine.

Fantastic Music from A Multi-Talented Performer,

"MUSIC FROM A PAINTED CAVE" is like the fresh air after a spring rain. Refreshing, joyous, and a promise of better things to come. Robert is a very talented flautist, percussionist, singer, dancer, songwriter, poet, and has a great sense of humour!! I have seen him and RTM in person,He plays Native American music, but with a Rock n" Roll beat!!!! I must admit that I have become a total "MIRAMANIC" after seeing and hearing MFAPC on tape. If you have any doubts after seeing the tape of this show which is still being shown on many PBS stations, check out the comments on Robert's messageboard from new and seasoned fans. You can check it out on his website, Mirabal.com. !There have been 900 or more messages since early March after the recent PBS pledge drive started. I am sure if you listen with an open heart and mind, you will get Robert's message!!!

For those of you who have yet to hear Robert Mirabal you have denied yourselves a truly unique experience. MUSIC FROM A PAINTED CAVE is is one man's vision for tomorrow. From the haunting melodies of his childhood growing up in the Taos Pueblo to the contemporary beat of today's rock & roll you will find it here. Mirabal combines native american flute in it's purest form with cello, guitar, bass and tribal rythyms. The driving force behind all of this is Mirabal himself showing you how he navigates the line between his native american roots and the modern world with his music. This is a piece of his soul showing with his hope for the children of all generations.

A Home Run!,
By Sandy (Wayne, Michigan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Music From a Painted Cave (Audio CD)
Robert and RTM you have hit another home run! "Music from a Painted Cave" includes many songs from previous CD's re-mixed with a couple of new songs added. My personal favorite is 1000 miles. The lyrics are meaningful and the sound is invigorating! You must see the live performance taped for the recent PBS special "Music from a Painted Cave". It is truly a resplendent experience! The infusing of rock with the traditional native rhythms is intoxicating! An experience you won't want to miss! The combination of the cello with the spiritual, haunting sounds of the flute rock my soul! The percussion is excellent! The show is visually stunning with dancers in native regalia engaging the audience with their hypnotizing movements and beautifully choreographed dances. So many textures and layers of sound blended together to shape a masterpiece. Not only are these musicians talented, they truly care about their audience. The live show is an experience that will engage all of your senses. Lastly, it is refreshing to experience a performer who takes the time to interact with his fans and to weave his stories with music, dance, and song. Everyone involved with the show are personable and kind people. Let's get these folks some well deserved air-time on the radio!

Just Excellent!,

From the start to the end of the PBS show, "Music From a Painted Cave", I was glued to the set. I don't even remember blinking. The music, stories, dancing, drumming and the magic of the flute playing touches the very spirit of who we are. The spirituality and humility that Robert Mirable displays could teach us all something. The messages from his songs are so meaningful. You just don't get tired of the show. I know I've watched the tape I made so many times, I'm surprised I haven't warned it out. Robert Mirabal and the Rare Tribal Mob were just fantastic. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my CD and Video.

It's an audio and visual thrill to witness this man perform AND entertain. This piece has something for everyone, all cultures, all ages, all beliefs: Traditional, rock, new age, alternative, including: Flutes, Ocarina, Drums, Cello, Guitars, Didgeridoo, Harmonica and if you get the video, the dancers are SPECTACULAR and there's no imitation there either, they are actual competition dancers from various nations. This is one CD/Video combo that everyone should have in his or her collection.
