I got this to try out the "proper" stance for playing guitar, and it has proven to be valuable for other uses as well. When sitting for long periods of time, it is advisable to shift one's position, and alternately raise one foot higher than the other. This works well for that, too.

It is well constructed of fairly heavy steel, and designed to fold flat. When unfolded, a crossbar on one set of legs seats into notches cut into two flanges underneath, allowing the height to be adjusted. The notches are deep and the whole arrangement is quite stable and solid.

This is a very well done product - simple, well made, and solid. I would recommend it without hesitation.

I've been using this footstool for a month practicing classical guitar (2-3 hours a day, 30-45 minute sessions).

Since I started using it, my back is more relaxed and I haven't felt tension in my fretting hand or my left arm at all. (For two months or so before using the footstool I felt tension in my back and arm pretty quickly.)

I thought I could spend a little more money to get a good footstool, but I was convinced by the user reviews and I doubt I could have found a better one.

The footstool doesn't slide, it's adjustable to a wide variety of heights, and I'm not even aware of it while playing.
