5.0 out of 5 stars Deeply restorative and gently energizing
Listening to many meditation cds, I find this compilaton brings me directly into stillness and a place of open-hearted alertness. It opens with Deva Premal setting the tone with an incantation and moves through piano and ambient tracks in a flowing organic way. Great for a car drive too.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good music but some songs cut off abruptly
I heard some of Deva Premal's music when I saw an ad for it on Facebook, and I enjoyed it, so when I saw an ad for this compilation I decided to give it a shot. The music is beautiful, contemplative, and creative. I do enjoy it.

Here is my complaint - several of the tracks cut off very, very abruptly, and go on to the next track. If I am sitting and...

2.0 out of 5 stars Good music but some songs cut off abruptly, March 25, 2011
This review is from: Music to Quiet the Mind (Audio CD)
I heard some of Deva Premal's music when I saw an ad for it on Facebook, and I enjoyed it, so when I saw an ad for this compilation I decided to give it a shot. The music is beautiful, contemplative, and creative. I do enjoy it.

Here is my complaint - several of the tracks cut off very, very abruptly, and go on to the next track. If I am sitting and relaxing, listening to this music, and the music just skips to a completely different song, I find it very disruptive. I don't feel peaceful in that moment, ha, and you might not either. I imagine the publisher collected songs from various artists for this compilation. Fair enough, however, I believe the whole CD would have benefitted from ending each song in a graceful way. Or at least, some kind of faded transition to the next track.

If the point is to relax, it should be relaxing music from start to finish.

I literally re-downloaded a few of the songs from Sounds True again, thinking that perhaps there was something wrong with my download. Nope, Just really choppy ends of a few songs.

Ends of Tracks 2,3, 6 and 10 are the offenders.

2.5 stars.

Eckhart Tolle's Music to Quiet the Mind

Fantastic relaxation music, and simply great listening music.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND as a substitute for "Valium" if stressed out. Almost as good as a visit to the spa and an hour of massage.

I have been enjoying this music that promotes the stillness as advertised. I enjoy playing this for myself and also as I perform massages. The variety of musicians really provides a spaciousness and tempo that pleases the senses. Great piece of music.

I didn't know what to expect from a music CD with Eckhart's name on it - but, well, it's Eckhart, so it has to be wonderful.

And it is wonderful, a surprisingly "new agey" variety of beautiful songs including space music (Steve Roach, Structures From Silence - OMG!), a piano version of the gorgeous Debussy classic, Clair de Lune, and - I had to laugh - "Let It Be." But of course! A very pretty piano rendition, by the way.

I'm enjoying all the tracks. This music is relaxing, even enchanting. I can almost feel ego melting. Although I try to focus on all the notes in the Now, I sometimes find my mind lazily drifting off to nowhere. And that's lovely!

Wonderful CD! Only wish that Eckhart Tolle has selected more music and made it a double CD packet. Listen to it over and over again, never get tired of the selections.

A beautiful selection of pieces of music ranging from Indian sitar to Debussy piano. Ideal for "quieting the mind" at any time. A good introduction by Eckhart Tolle and a listing of the pieces of music in the jewel box.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quiet to the mind, August 31, 2011
This review is from: Music to Quiet the Mind (Audio CD)
This is not my first choice when I have friends over but it is great to pop into the car when traffic gets stressful. The music is not exciting but is great for stress reduction.
