Not content with their busy 2005 schedule, Adelaide's I Killed The Prom Queen are taking 2006 by the throat and don't look like letting go in the near future. Simply reaching their potential isn't a motivation for this band, surpassing their own expectations and abilities are just a taste of their intentions and existence.

Adelaide's I Killed The Prom Queen unleashed a more powerful and dynamic debut full length than has yet to be experienced by most. "When Goodbye Means Forever", debuted in the Adelaide charts at #1 where and remained in that position many weeks after its release. The album also debuted in the AIR charts at #12 before breaking through into the top 10 to #6, remaining in the top 10 for over 6 weeks, a feat rarely achieved by a metal/hardcore band. Easily satiating the IKTPQ followers, this release serves to reaffirm IKTPQ's evolution, displaying how much they've accomplished, the contribution they have made to underground music in Australia and the sheer distance they've evolved over the course of their existence.

Not letting their location or personnel changes hinder their progress, I Killed The Prom Queen hastily reinforced their name at the forefront of the Australian hardcore and metal scenes with consistent timely touring. Lately I've been listening to this album out of my 'metallic hardcore' collection.

It's very good. Especially the vocals.

In previous reviews people have noted this album's great "screams". It's important to note that there are not any screams on this album.

The vocals in this album are death growls, you silly people.

Though the riffs are heavily gothenburg inspired (as in, yeah, sounds like As I Lay Dying), their own style constantly bleeds through (666 is really un-gothenburg for example) and it sounds better than all AILD clones.

Hell, in my opinion, they sound better than AILD.

What puts them above and beyond? The vocals. I applaud Ed Butcher's preformence and style; his growls perfectly fit their deathcore.

I myself was like, "Wait, what? These aren't screams... I think..."

And they aren't. He growls in the same fashion that one would scream on a regular metalcore samefest. You'd think someone else would have done that by now, but most deathcore embraces the death more than the core.

I Killed The Prom Queen embraces the core first with amazing results, like the drumming (which is always clever and very much hardcore).

Though the riffs sound generic at times (very few times, I assure you) their entire sound is not one worth missing.

Some may call this band a typical metalcore release and what not, but honestly, I Killed the Prom Queen is a great band. The lead vocalist has one of the best screams in the business and the breakdowns just knock you right out.

They may not be the best ever, but this is a very solid release. To bad they broke up :(

This group is really good they are from australlia. the only downfall is they have split up but for the cd it is totally awsome.
