Better Then The "And Then There Was Rock" DVD but still nothing to be excited about,
By Micheal Hunt (Hellbourne) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Music in Review: Bon Scott Years (DVD)
I will start by saying this is a better DVD then the previous "And Then There Was Rock: Life Before Brian" DVD.
But, this isn't what it was cracked up to be or expected to be either. It's more interviews from everyone who think they are the ultimate opinion about AC/DC. But I particularly hate the fact that some of them somewhat had no idea that there opinions are just there's, they make it sound like its the way it is to everyone. Particularly the idiots who say Powerage was just an album made for the hell of releasing an album and making it sound like it was a bad album. And I predicted they where the typical ones who believe AC/DC died when Bon Scott died. If they could just pull there head out of there ass long enough they might realise that AC/DC may not have been the same, but they where still better then anyone else around and still blowing the competition off the stage. They compare things too much and don't show a broad range of knowledge other then wanting to just show their stupidity. Saying Powerage was a filler album and Highway To Hell was pop, what a joke. This DVD does have real AC/DC performances and audio unlike the other DVD. However, don't be fooled by that thing on the cover that says, "Rare, never before seen footage"...what a joke... pretty much every clip on this (none shown in entirety) is on Family Jewels, Rock Goes To College, Sight & Sound/Rock Masters and the Glasgow gig that is the show that the live album IYWBYGI is. So, pretty much, it should be re-written as "not so rare footage that every hardcore AC/DC fan already has a bootleg of, but we're the first to get it put on an officially released DVD and only show you a snippet of it at that" I honestly still didn't learn anything I didn't already know about AC/DC, it's basically 3,4 or 5 guys talking about the albums over the 1974 to 1980 period and giving there review on what they thought of it. Within the first 2 minutes of watching this I picked up an error these so called "EXPERTS" had already made. It shows a clip of Show Business (seen on FJ) which has written "original released in 1975 on the Highvoltage album" *buzzer sound* wrong, 1974. For someone who doesn't know about AC/DC's history, you may enjoy this. For the hardcore fan, you wont learn anything new and wont see anything you haven't already seen.

Customs Regulations,
This review is from: Music in Review: Bon Scott Years (DVD)
MUSIC REVIEWS LTD., the company behind this product, obviously has its head office somwhere within the EU. On the product itself it reads "Made in the EU".
According to German Customs, if AMAZON had enclosed a letter to German Customs explaining this, I wouldn't have had to pay duty on the product. This cheesed me off, to be honest. Paying EU duty on an EU product is ludicrous and annoying. Please enclose a letter in future. Thank you. |
