4.0 out of 5 stars Handy Reference, January 4, 2012

This review is from: Music Through Children's Literature: Theme and Variations -Revised Edition (Paperback)
Although I spend time looking for children's literature which I can tie into music units, this book -though a bit dated - has really come in handy. It has provided some very educational and entertaining activities relating to books that children may already be familiar with, or new lit for them to enjoy. I recommend it for the creative teacher looking for a new twist on a variety of musical topics or just wants some refreshing new ideas they can work into their classes. We all need something to inspire us here and there.

This is a good resource filled with alot of detailed information but it isn't super exciting.
I've used it to add on to my lesson plans when I needed extra ideas!

This review is from: Music Through Children's Literature: Theme and Variations -Revised Edition (Paperback)
"Learning is set to music as students sing, play instruments, chant, and dance to the lively activities offered in this book.
Using a rich variety of illustrated folk songs, rhythmic poems, and stories with musical themes, the author introduces subjects of rhythm, melody, form, instruments, music history, and dance.

Lesson plans are ready to use and can be adapted according to a teacher's level of musical proficiency and time limitations.

These are perfect for the nonmusician who must teach music as well as for the seasoned music specialist.

GREAT FOR COOPERATIVE TEACHING AMONG MEDIA SPECIALISTS, CLASSROOM TEACHERS, AND MUSIC SPECIALISTS."
