This is an extraordinary album, by an extraordinary group of musicians.

I bought it as a keepsake of seeing Granados and Un Mundo Ensemble at the National Flute Convention in Kansas City, MO this past week. As amazing as this recording is, a live performance (YouTube doesn't count, sorry) is even more of a revelation. Watching the cuatro player's hands literally blur across the strings, the bassist's virtuosic yet nuanced stylings, and of course Marcos' energy (he even leaped while playing) is a real joy to behold.

The only thing missing from the album itself is liner notes on the songs, and the song forms in general. Marcos is very passionate about explaining these distinctions in a live setting, and I'm not sure they would have been as obvious to me otherwise.

Still, like others have said... top shelf in all other respects. Get it, and smile!

Marco's new CD is amazing. His flute playing is a mixture of beautiful sound, perfect technic and extreme virtuosity. The album consists of carefully selected venezuelan music, which is different, powerful and absolutely joyful. I believe this CD is a-must-have for a flutist as well as a great treat for everyone else who likes good music.

Compliments go to the Un Mundo Ensemble as well.

Marco and his band are amazing musicians, and they really bring the joy and vibrancy of Venezuelan music to life in this album. It puts a smile on my face, and I just want to get up and dance!

When you're on a car trip, it's hard to find music that everyone likes -- everybody from 5 to 55. This was the CD that brought smiles to the whole carful of family members. The Venezuelan rhythms are tricky and irresistible, and Marco Granados's flute playing is just extraordinary.

Marco is an amazing musician. I don't think I've ever heard a flute sound that is so powerful and full. The styles of music he interprets on this cd are also very sophisitcated and difficult to play, but quite easy to listen to. His fellow musicians are equally talented, at times to the point of sheer awe. There is very little venezuelan music available outside of Venezuela, so if you are interested in beautiful tunes, unbelieveably hip rhythms, and technical prowess, buy this cd now. Marco also did a wonderful job of recording and mixing the cd.

I have already been a fan of Marco Granados for some time and was eager to listen to this new CD. What a treat! He seems to combine a wide variety of Venezuelan themes in a contemporary and fresh way that has world appeal. Granados' amazing flute playing is always precise, yet full of soul and feeling. He is accompanied by wonderful side men too, and this one has stayed in the changer since I got it. The recording also is very well done and this CD sounds much better than average.

If you like a bit of South American tradition with a contemporary sound, interesting themes, and music for any occasion that has real depth, pick this one.

Marco Granados is amazing and dazzling -- all with finesse and incredible good taste! The music itself is fascinating as well. A great CD and a rare treat.
