5.0 out of 5 stars Can you do better?
This has to the best mix of various artists I've ever heard. It provides such a variety of mix that you will never get tired of it. I bought this C.D. awhile ago and I still listen to this set of songs frequetly. If you have doubts about this C.D., don't you won't regret buy this C.D. for you or someone else.

This review is from: Music from the War Years: Big Band Era [3-CD Set] (Audio CD)
Listen to the sample of Pennsylvania 6-5000 and you'll get an idea of how lifeless I found this collection. Instead of the classic version with the sound of a phone ringing and the orchestra shouting "PENNSYLVANIA 6-5000!" this version substitutes a tinkling of piano keys. Period. It doesn't get any better than the sample. Though they claim the recordings are by the original artists, frankly they sound more like factory seconds or elevator music. I picked this set because it had all my favorites but the renditions are terribly uninspired.

1.0 out of 5 stars Where are the real bands?, February 7, 2004

Most of the music is by some band trying to imitate the real bands and it falls flat.
