A Mesmerizing Shoutout from the Virtual World to the Real World, January 21, 2010
The dreamy denizens of the virtual universe have in Lady Wallace's album, "Music to Watch Avatars By," an hypnotic and soulful yet powerful work. The track, "Lady Wallace Sings" possesses a multilayered and complex ambient style, with periods of tantalizing buildup of tension, with dissonant, spicy chords that explode in orgasmic release. I have listened to it literally dozens of times. I had the privilege of meeting with Lady in her virtual space, avatar-to-avatar, and it was one of my peak experiences of recent times. The acoustic piano coupled with a plaintive, vulnerable, female voice, brought me to an emotional place--a room in my mind--long forgotten. The electronica infused version of "Goodbye" doesn't fail to please, sharing some of the ethereal attributes of "Lady Wallace Sings," though as with any song with two versions, there will be times when one's own mood resnonates best with one or the other. I heartily endorse the purchase of this album or any of the songs in it. You won't be disappointed.
