Joseph Straus has collected a number of examples of music suitable for analysis in an undergraduate music theory curriculum. What stands out is that the examples of music are by women.

If students don't experience women's music in the classroom, they tend to devalue it. If they experience it treated like any man's music, they tend to value it alongside music by men. A simple concept. Why has no one done this before?
