5.0 out of 5 stars RSD Fans will be mezmerized!, January 6, 2000
This review is from: Music From Zalman King's Red Shoe Diaries (1992 Television Movie) (Audio CD)
It took me a couple of years to locate this CD. The music is haunting, sensual and mezmerizing. In fact George Clinton has provided even more music, just ordered "The Music of Red Shoe Diaries" from Amazon.co.uk (Import, Weinerworld) and can't wait to listen. If you are truly dedicated to the music of Red Shoes, you will love this CD!

I am a huge fan of Zalman King I love all his movies and the music in them. This is a very good CD. I especially liked "You never really know" by Richie Sambora and " Your losing me" by Zucchero. This CD is not as good as the CD "The Music Of Red Shoe Diaries" the entire CD is by George Clinton. This has my favorite "Chinatown" (which is in many of the Red Shoe Diaries movies) is one of the most beautiful scores I've ever heard. I am happy I own both.

This soundtrack is great! I think everyone should give it a listen. So rich and decadent like a caramel sunday. If anyone is looking for the out of print "second half" to this wonderful soundtrack, email me at vdgr@msn.com

5.0 out of 5 stars No comparison to the other Red Shoes Diaries Cd., July 27, 1999

Although I enjoyed listening to this cd, especially Richie Sambora on "You Never Really Know", I would suggest - The Music of Red Shoes Diaries by George Clinton, Wienerworld Limited. The 11 track cd is much more sensual and pleasing than this cd because it spared me many of the unwanted vocals found here.

In addition to THIS album, George S. Clinton has a COMPLETE CD entitled "The Music of the Red Shoe Diaries" which is INFINTELY BETTER as noted by some other reviewers. Although it's hard to find, I recommend you listen to both before making a purchase. The Music of the Red Shoe Diaries is RSD9500-6550 by Zal King Music, 1993. All music on THIS CD is produced and conducted by George S. Clinton - Listen to both. Then, YOU decide which shoe to drop! - Mountain Man Dan

5.0 out of 5 stars Moody, Sensual, Magical, January 29, 2000
This review is from: Music From Zalman King's Red Shoe Diaries (1992 Television Movie) (Audio CD)
Okay, so I admit I first watched this film because I heard it was an erotic tragic story featuring David Duchovny. While it is that, and not a bad film overall, what stayed with me far longer than the story or visuals was the music.

This is a fantastic CD. Clinton's score is haunting and sensual, and the selections from other artists are evocative. I am going to pursue the import mentioned by another reviewer of more of Clinton's music, but I can't fail to mention one thing. To me the jewel of the CD is Oleta Adams' "Everything Must Change." Listen to that and you're going to go down to some blue blue place inside of you, but somehow, you don't want to leave.

Good stuff. Enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lush, sensual, exotic, December 8, 2004
This review is from: Music From Zalman King's Red Shoe Diaries (1992 Television Movie) (Audio CD)
Some of the best laid-back jazz and pop I've ever heard is on this album. Created as the soundtrack for the cable show "Red Shoe Diaries", it perfectly complements Zalman King's lush photography. Clinton (who both writes and arranges the music) ranges from haunting melodies of longing and desire, such as "Negligee", to fiery dance tunes like the "Red Shoes Tango". The only time the album strikes a harsh note is with the James Brown number. I've been listening to this album for years and I never get tired of it. I highly recommend it for its evocation of a lazy Sunday afternoon, preferably on a rainy day, with the romance novel of your choice.

I love evey song on this CD except the James Brown tune, but then, I'm not a great fan of his. "You Never Really Know" is my favorite.

I have about 6 different Red Shoe Diaries Movies and the soundtrack, and I'd highly recommend this CD. The music of George Clinton is fantastic. The movies have a totally unique perspective, I can say I think that Zalman King may be one of the most talented men of our generation.
