By Elana Hoffman (Hartford, CT) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Music for all time (Audio CD)
This is a stellar premiere recording by Alison Young. She plays with an exquisite tone and flawless technique. These are exciting new works that will hopefully become part of the standard flute repetoire.

American Flute Originals Performed by Alison Young,
By Graham Ashmead (Cleveland, Ohio) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Music for all time (Audio CD)
Alison Young, a marvelous flutist and Principle Flute of the Houston Ballet Orchestra, demonstrates her poise, technical security, dazzling precision and virtuosic flair in MUSIC FOR ALL TIME, American Music for Flute and Orchestra, 1998 Albany Records. MUSIC FOR ALL TIME contains four unique flute pieces of compelling individualism. David Diamond (b. 1915), Flute Concerto, Antal Dorati (1906-1988), Night Music, Bernard Rodgers (1893-1968), Solioquy, and Ernest Krenek (1901-1991), Suite, op. 147, comprise some of the finest flute literature from America. This work conducted by Charles Anthony Johnson with the Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic Orchestra highlights the talents of Ms. Young and will truly remain with 'for all time'.

A fabulous collection of premieres,
By A Customer
This review is from: Music for all time (Audio CD)
The up and coming solo flutist Alison Young really hits the mark with this disc comprised of premieres of some of the finest works for flute and orchestra by Amercian composers. Liquid legato tone colors and flawless technique add to her natural musicality in interpreting these little known works. I'm not a big fan of "modern music" but I recommend this disc to all music lovers. Bravo, Alison!
