You should allow a new catagory of 6 stars for this album!,

Well where to start, this album regardless of the hype(which is non existant outside the uk)is a genuine classic! Every track blends into one another to form an awesome sound which struck me down the first time i saw them live. Stand out tracks have to be "The Dance", "The Truth has no words" and "Getaway" though basically the album never ceases to amaze! I saw them live about a year and a half ago and they took absoultely ages to bring album out though it was worth it. I don't want to preach but basically get anything you can get your hands on by the band because you will not be disapointed. Probably the most amazing thing about this album is that is a debut, though then again we all know that it can all go downhill from there, but seriously when they tour with the vines sparks will fly! I predict a floor of nodding heads and crowds looking at each other in disbelief. so i guess the gist of this is to buy the album, if u don't believe me well nevermind, your lose

The Best Kept Secret...,

I saw "The Music" open up for the Vines in November. I was totally blown away by the talent and the uniqueness that came off of their performance. Since then I have tried to find this album... and it is not to be released in the US until February. That is a downer. Everyone should check this band out. The vibe, the beats, the vocals, everything will entice you. Together, it is the ultimate musical experience.

An awesome debut from a potentially massive group,

If you have though it is definately worth it. From my 1st listen and the intro to "The Dance" I was sucked into this epic 65 minute rock journey. Theres no dud track here, though for me "The People" seems the only stand out single - this is no bad thing. The Music have recorded an album, not a collection of singles or try hard radio songs. Listened to as a whole, The Music flows like so little albums do these days with each song melding into the next. Its very hard to pick any favourite tracks but those that immediately come to mind are "The dance", "Turn out the light", "the People" and "Getaway". Its only just coming around to summer here in Australia, and I'd say I've already found my soundtrack...

I was blown away by their single "Take the Long Road and Walk it." I didn't get a chance to listen to their whole album until now though, and it's amazing. These songs just flow right through you. It's rock and roll at it's purist, directly the opposite of the mainstream alternative "crap" rock that's been dominating the radio waves. After reading another review, I do agree that the lead singer is quite Bono-esque, but I don't like U2 so it doesn't matter to me :P Buy this album, I can't wait till a show comes to the Northeast.

An Extraordinary Debut From Some Trippy Kids Across the Pond,
By Joshua Paterno (Boston College, MA, USA Boston College, MA, USA) - See all my reviews

The Music's self-titled debut is kind of like Thom Yorke on acid, while flipping out with Richard Ashcroft at a Rave and listening to the Chemical Brothers. (Does that even make sense?)On a serious note though, the CD in its entirety is, quite simply, excellent. The songs are incredibly loud and fast, with a greater emphasis placed on melody than on the lyrics. Basically, if you're looking for moody, song-writting based conventional rock music, buying this CD may be a little risky for you. Standout tracks on this 55 minute tour-de-force include "The Truth is No Words,' 'Human,' 'Turn Out the Light,' and 'Too High.' The raw energy and intensity of the album is reminiscient of such classic debuts as U2's Boy, Velvet Underground's Velvet Underground and Nico, and Pink Floyd's Piper at the Gates of Dawn. The fiery vocals by Robert Harvey and company are a welcomed reminder of the days when men like Bono, Lou Reed, and Syd Barrett would sing as if every yelp and howl of their voices was going to single-handedly change the world, while the psychedelia of the latter is eerily reminiscient of the tripped-out acidic serenity of The Music. If your looking for the benefits of LSD and ecstasy, without those inconvient side-effects of dehydration, brain-tissue destruction, and death, then buy this CD now. And even if you aren't into that, buy it anyways; it's one of the best releases of 2003, period. 4 stars all the way.

Not bad at all!,

Most people usually give a nice, scientific analysis of the CD in this section but to be honest I think in The Music's case, this is simply not needed! All of the songs are awesome and you can't help but lose yourself in The Music's music, and before long you find yourself jumping around the room out of control. For me the best songs on the album are, "Turn out the light" (A wonderfully mellow tune) and, "Getaway" (Just awesome!) Buy this album!

I'd never heard this band, nor had ever heard OF this band until MTV 2 was smart enought to start playing the video for "Take the Long Road..."- After seeing the video once, my long, long quest to aquire a copy of this cd began. This band is phenomenal and I was stunned to learn that it's available only in the U.S. as an import. (I'd suggest to the recording industry in the U.S. that NOT making great music such as this available for purchase is really not helping your stagnating industry.) To my fellow listeners & lovers of blistering, very cool guitar rock (that you can & will dance to!), do "whatever" you have to do to add this cd to your collection!
