 Twenty years ago two groups formed in Puerto Rico: Truco, led by Hector Valentin, played the traditional Puerto Rican styles of bomba and plena; Zaperok was formed in the early 1980s and pioneered the new style Songo.
 Their union fuses powerful rhythmic patterns from a range of traditions, creating new styles and improvisations which are lovely representations of infusions of all styles.

I've never really been into the Latin music scene, but after hearing this album, that may all change. Between the complex and dancable rhythms to the aurally engulfing vocals and instrumentation, this album can set the mood for the best dance party you'll ever have between your ears. If you like Latin music, this is a must buy, no questions asked. So stop reading and check out the best thing to happen to Latin music since the Spanish Harlem Orchestra.

If you love the music of Cuba and Brazil and indeed the entire Caribbean basin you will freak out on this album. From the first
note it is a record which demands your attention. The arranging
is spectacular, the playing is jaw-dropping and the singing is downright joyous. Fans of P-Funk, Los Van Van and Yerba Buena will adore this
album.
If you need a record to make you dance & party beyond words waste
no time and buy this album, you will not regret !

I was clearly disappointed with their sound. They are supposed to be Puerto Rican music but they sure try hard to sound Cuban. No problems with the Cuban music, I love it, but I rather hear it from Cuban groups. They sound to me like "wannabe". I was expecting more Puerto Rican flavor. The sound has ups and downs. The singer "screams". Or is it that they don't trust their own music?
