5.0 out of 5 stars Will they ever stop?
Another great album from the Beatnuts, lots of great beats along with some real firme lyrics. Unlike alot of other albums with dry beats or kindergarten lyrics, this album is great from start to finish. It just goes to show that Latinos really can rap. Also the song 'Se Acabo' f/Magic Juan from Proyecto Uno, is off the hook. Hopefully this album will open the eyes of...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, not Classic Beatnuts
1999 - 2000 had a strong rising from the underground groups. Mos Def had Ms Fat Booty, Cocoa Brovaz had Super Brooklyn, Pharoahe Monch had Simon Says, MOP had Ante Up (Robbin Hoodz Theory) Common had The Light, Gangstarr Full Clip, Reflection Eternal The Blast. Well, The Beatnuts had Watch Out Now. When I heard that, and saw the line up of guests on the album, Common,...

1999 - 2000 had a strong rising from the underground groups. Mos Def had Ms Fat Booty, Cocoa Brovaz had Super Brooklyn, Pharoahe Monch had Simon Says, MOP had Ante Up (Robbin Hoodz Theory) Common had The Light, Gangstarr Full Clip, Reflection Eternal The Blast. Well, The Beatnuts had Watch Out Now. When I heard that, and saw the line up of guests on the album, Common, Dead Prez, Greg Nice, remember from the Nice and Smooth Days? I thought this was going to be another classic. Even though I was wrong, this album is still solid. A few week moments, but this is better than any of the crunk garbage that's out there, or at that time, the jiggy garbage. For classic Beatnuts, get Stone Crazy and Street Level. Both are hip hop at it's best. But I say, this is an album still worth your money. By the way, don't listen to any reviewer who tells you that Mase is a good artist. Mase makes Vanilla Ice look like Mos Def.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beatnuts forever die hard!, June 13, 2001

Ju and Big Psych know how to make cookin' funk tracks and tell hardcore stories, but they can't make a chatrtopping single. That don't mean the public should'nt embrace them. Tunes like Beatnuts Forever, Cocotaso and Puffin on a cloud are songs you can listen to with moms in the minivan and pass a dutch master around on the way to soccer practice. Family fun!

A Musical Massacre is such a good album. All of the songs are HOT and if you buy the album, you will be listening to it over and over again! My personal favorite is "Se Acabo (It's Over)" I saw the Beatnuts in Corona, Queens on the day their Album was released(August 31)and they are really nice guys ~~~> Psycho Les and JuJu.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Beatnuts - A Musical Massacre, September 7, 2007
This review is from: A Musical Massacre (Audio CD)
Rappers/Producers the Beatnuts, a Queens duo consisting of Ju-Ju (A.K.A. Jerry Tineo) & Pyscho Les (A.K.A. Lester Fernandez) fourth album was "A Musical Massacre" (1999). My introduction to the Beatnuts came when I the video for "Off The Books" an excellent collaboration between the Beatnuts and Big Pun (R.I.P.), Cuban Link of Terror Squad which was featured on their "Stone Crazy" (1997) album. Definitely one of my favourite Latin Hip Hop collaborations. My favourite track on this album is the exceptional "Look Around" a classic collaboration between the Beatnuts and M-1/Stic.man of Dead Prez backed by some premium production, and a memorable Stic.man chorus both groups shine. This track is a gem which should not be slept on. The first full length track "Beatnuts Forever" had the duo delivering some grimy rhymes over some on point production. Backed by some smooth vocals from Cheryl Pepsi Riley the Beatnuts rep themselves on "I Love It". "Slam It" is another solid track a three way collaboration between Cuban Link, Common & the Beatnuts. Midway their is a lot of material which had this reviewer hitting skip, another not to be missed track is the single "Watch Out Now" which features some distinct production that worked well with the Beatnuts style. On the closer the Beatnuts collaborate with Magic Juan of Projecto Uno for a purely Latin Hip Hop cut in "Se Acabo". The Beatnuts continue to be active to this day, Pyscho Les recently dropped his debut solo album. The standout track's make "A Musical Massacre" a release worth checking out, and a keeper for Beatnuts fans. 3.5.

the beatnuts laid it down once again, they can't be trifled with...they are probably the most underrated rappers out there, they deserve much more acclaim than they've gotten...always laying it down with chulo rhymes and always representing CORONA, they're on the level of any rappers out there...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, Not Great., December 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: A Musical Massacre (Audio CD)
This album is pretty good, but not great. A lot of the songs are easy to listen to several times. There are a lot of good beats on the CD but don't go into it expecting unbelievable ones (as I did) or you may be disappointed. "Watch Out Now" is probably the best song. The most unfortunate part of the CD is that "Turn It Out" is a song where an incredible beat is ruined by repetitive and uninspired lyrics (how many times can you hear them say "C'mon, C'mon, C'mon, just turn it out" before you get sick of it?). You could make worse purchases though, and it definitely has a few songs that I listen to a lot. If you need some music and can't find anything else good, go for it.
