Very Great Album!,
This review is from: Musically Inclined (Audio CD)
I bought this album out of curiosity after watching the music video to "Good or Bad Times". What a pleasant surprize! This album is simply amazing. There are no fillers here (in my opinion). And the sound is different, which is a good thing. MUSICALLY INCLINED is an excellent album for a number of reasons. One reason is the fact that its lyrical content has meaning - something which is obviously missing from Dancehall music today with only a few exceptions (Junior Gong, Shaggy, Sean Paul, Tami Chynn, [earlier Buju Banton] to name a few). It is difficult to say which song is a standout on this album though, simply because they are all at least near excellent. However, I have a few favourites. In no particular order, these are:
"Got News For You" - Great production. Good lyrics. "Only One" - This is my kind of thing - Dancehall with an R & B flavor (a la Shaggy!) "Cross The Border" - Produced by Devonte. Great effort! Lyrically, even though I may not necessarily like the "theme", they kept it clean, almost like a "funny-dub-dissing-song", but without the stupid "over di wall" [...] that seems to be rampant in dancehall music. "Good or Bad Times" - Great song. Tight production. Sensible lyrics. "Doesn't Mean A Thing" - Another song with good lyrics. "Diamond Girl" - One of the two of my 'favourites'. Big tune! Wicked production. "Tell Her" - What an excellent song. Now this is technically my favourite here, but it will tie with "Diamond Girl". Everything is excellent about this effort. "Time To Party" - Produced by Morgan Heritage. Well-produced. A good party-vibe song, and great choice for the album. Overall, MUSICALLY INCLINED gets five stars from this reviewer. I STRONGLY recommend this Album. It's worth it!

I bought this albam because I used to love their song; every one falls in love. I am not disappointed at all, their songs are mostly suited for partying. There are great songs in the albam but people who like roots may find some songs to be more hiphop (few though) than reggae(cross the border in particular, courtney Melody is singing nice reggae vocals in this song but thats about all the reggae in the song).
on the other hand, there are plenty of great tracks;Good or Bad Times,Diamond Girl,Tell Her, Everytime You Find Love (this one is my favourate in this albam). Most of my friends are not reggae fans (reggae is not big in South Africa)but they do listen to this album when I am playing it, they like mostly the first three songs. Overall the albam gets four stars from me, it is a great album. |
