4.0 out of 5 stars A great starting point for fans of the Father of British Blues!, August 9, 2006
This review is from: Musically Rich & Famous (Audio CD)
Good sound, good track order and interesting sleevenotes means that this set is really very pleasant to own. Alexis Korner is helped out by more than a few famous guys (like Stevie Marriott, Robert Plant and Keith Richards) and that shows the great respect they all had for him. I bought this when it first came out and there are quite a few highlights such as "Steal Away" with Robert Plant on vocals and harp, "I Don't Know" and a killer version of "Honky Tonk Woman" with Korner solo on acoustic guitar. Although it doesn't start until the period of the late 1960s, this set is the one that gets my vote for the anthologies that are available at the moment. Why didn't I give it 5 stars? Well, I dunno but I would probably have run to 4 1/2 if there was a button to do it!!
