This album surprised me, first cut to last, with juicy, satisfying, yes, songs. In the ipod age, the concept of an album is fast disappearing, replaced by cherry picking what you want, when you want it, from whomever you want it. Maybe that trend is accelerating because music is more easily made, more widely distributed, and the barriers to putting tunes into the marketplace are rapidly lowering. But Treva Whateva's "Music's Made of Memories" reverses, at least, my diminishing faith in any single album's ability to not just hang in there, but get better and better. What kind of music? Here's a real booty-shaker, combining rock, scratching, dub, funk, jazz, reggae, big band, lounge, electronic, disco, even a cinema/modern-classical cut, all with dynamic beats, deep bass and enough ingredients to really fill you up--a rare thing for me these days. Congrats, Treva, and...more, please, whateva!
