5.0 out of 5 stars Doc Evans at his best!, September 12, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Muskrat Ramble (Audio CD)
These are some of the sides originally recorded on Audiophile and represent some of the best Dixieland ever recorded. Doc has been associated with the twin cities and Chicago, playing at Jazz Limited. He does some of the "old chestnuts" with respect and restraint, using some of the best sidemen, including Knocky Parker. I'm glad that the masters are now available on CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Doc and his Superb Minneapolis-St.Paul Band, February 8, 2008
This review is from: Muskrat Ramble (Vinyl)
These sides on Audiophile label are some of the best Dixieland recorded. All the musicians are outstanding on their instruments, particularly Hal Runyan on trombone and Knocky Parker on piano. I only hope that it comes out on CD soon. Doc always has creative and tight arrangements and makes use of some imaginative approaches to these classic tunes.
