Book Description

Being overweight is nothing to laugh at, but most people who want to lose weight are tired of the serious, "Thou shalt not" approach. Many are ready for a lighthearted look at weight loss--"a practical devotional approach that offers scriptural advice in a way that encourages and never condemns. Award-winner Christian author Janice Thompson shares light-hearted ways to lose weight and keep your humor intact. Based on her own experience of losing 100 pounds without surgery, Janice keeps the laughter going in this day-to-day format. Whether you want to drop five pounds or 150, this is the book to help you achieve that goal.

I Must Decrease contains tips and testimonies from several well-known (and much-loved) Christian authors, including Mary Connealy, Lena Nelson Dooley, Martha Rogers, Kristin Billerbeck, Laurie Alice Eakes, Carrie Turansky, Marcia Gruver, Deb Ulrich, Gina Bishop, Pam Hillman and Lynette Sowell.

Special Feature: This e-book version of Janice's devotional contains some of her favorite low-cal recipes. Bon Appetite!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book!! February 23, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I bought a used paperback copy in January because someone recommended this book, and I was not disappointed. Then I was so excited to see that it came out in a Kindle version. I have gone through weight loss ups and downs since I was a preteen. This book gave me the courage to seek God with my weight loss. The devotions in here help me keep my focus on God and not myself. This lighthearted book also helps me keep in mind that there is more to life than just my weight. I recommend this book to any Christian who has issues with weight.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Winner! February 23, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Janice Thompson hits the mark again! Using her talented writing skills of inspiration and humor, she has created a "diet book" like no other. Let's face it, losing weight is not an easy task. It certainly helps when you have positive people around you to encourage and support you. And....this book will definitely do this! Once again, Janice's gift of humor will have you smiling and laughing as you can relate to her own personal struggles with weight loss. You will come away with a feeling that, "yes, I can take charge of my health today" with a positive attitude, determination, and a "little help from above". I recommend this book....and while saying that, I also highly recommend her other Christian romance novels. Have fun reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommend!! February 23, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Author Janice Thompson hits the nail on the head with this book!!
After being on a "diet" most of my life, I am thrilled to finally see in print (on my Kindle) the truth about "dieting". The spiritual perspective is appreciated and a crucial component to "success".
I Must Decrease is honest and funny while offering encouragement to "eat healthier" - not "diet". This is a way of life, not a short term project.
Love the format with "ticklers", "tidbits", "traps", "tricks", "treats", and "testimonies" for each day! Makes me feel like Janice is walking beside me on my journey.
Highly recommend I Must Decrease to anyone who wants to live healthier!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this! February 23, 2012

This book is just what the title promises: inspiration and encouragement. Janice Hanna Thompson has walked this walk and can truly talk the talk. With humor and complete understanding of the dieter's life, her tips and biblical exhortations give one the motivation to keep at it. I highly recommend this offering to anyone who needs to lose weight or maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Format:Kindle Edition
I first read I Must Decrease in paper format several years ago, and now I'm thrilled to be reading it again on my Kindle. Author Janice Thompson took a subject that has generated entire sections in bookstores and given her own unique and user-friendly slant to it. Thompson's advice is easy to implement, and her method of delivery--using humor, real work illustrations, and the input of fellow strugglers--gave me hope that I, too, could manage this weight loss thing. I love how she wraps the message of good health in the words of Scripture, not in a holier-than-thou way, but rather with an I'm-working-on-it-too emphasis.

DO NOT miss this book. It will change your life? How do I know? It has changed mine.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing-nothing new January 6, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I got this book due to it advertising itself as having humor. I have not found any humor. The "tips" are nothing new and one tip particularly annoyed me because it's already been proven to be wrong--the author said to drink diet sodas and use artificial sweeteners. The ONLY thing I liked was some of the testimonials, and not even all of them. The Bible references are weak and not well incorporated . There were a lot of grammar and punctuation errors in this book. I'd skip this one. I thought my eyes were playing tricks--some of the stuff was repeated 3 times! The book also contradicts itself-after advising to drink diet soda then later on it says not to. I would sum it up as being a
Very odd book.
