5.0 out of 5 stars "It Must Hurt Alot" is a must have for grieving children, April 18, 2000
This review is from: It Must Hurt a Lot: A Book about Death and Learning and Growing (Hurts of Childhood Series) (Hardcover)
As a mother, it's hard to find the right words to say when your child is hurting. Doris Sanford takes grief to a child's level and helps parents and children alike to find a way to cope with the loss of a loved one. She puts feelings into words and Graci Evans illustrates with passion and beauty.

The story about Josh and his friend Tim dealing with the losses that young children inevitably face from the loss of a beloved pet to the death of a grandparent.

This book is a must have for anyone who works or lives with children. Every grief counselor should have a copy on their shelf.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible, June 21, 2011

This review is from: It Must Hurt a Lot: A Book about Death and Learning and Growing (Hurts of Childhood Series) (Hardcover)
Our dog recently died and this book was recommended. I ordered it from Amazon (used) and it came in great shape for a great price.
However, I do not feel that reading this book to my kids is going to help them with the grief of their pet. In the book, the boy's dog is run over by a neighbor's car. It's a very "old school" book and that is probably why it is out of print. Keep looking.
