2.0 out of 5 stars Must Love Mistletoe
The story-line was OK but sometimes the language and the descriptions, I felt, were not appropriate (not really bad - just on the tacky side). I tried picking a new author by choosing by titles and am really sorry I wasted my money on three. One would have been enough. Am I disappointed? Yep!

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect book for the holiday season., September 5, 2006
This review is from: Must Love Mistletoe (Mass Market Paperback)
"The Perfect Christmas" is owned by Bailey Sullivan's family in Coronado, California. Many locals consider it a landmark. But Bailey hates the holiday. Nevertheless, she leaves LA and returns to Coronado to help save the family store from going under. Since the holiday season is in full swing, Bailey is hoping to get everything back up to par by the 25th and head back to LA.

Problem is that Bailey's parents are feuding. Her mother, Tracy, is hiding away and Bailey cannot seem to snap her out of it. In fact, Bailey cannot even get Tracy to step inside their store. No amount of begging or cajoling is working. That would have been enough for anyone, but Bailey knows she is in trouble when she spies Finn Jacobson, the boy she loved and lost ten years ago.

Finn wants nothing to do with Bailey. The last eleven months of his life has been a nightmare. Finn is part of the Dignitary Protection Division of the Secret Service. He is on "vacation" and visiting Gram while he comes to terms with what happened during an assassination attempt. One of his younger team members died in the line of duty and Finn lost his left eye. The last thing he wanted was to see Bailey again. However, she is the only one who asked about him and was not really wanting to know about his eye patch.

Neither Bailey, nor Finn, wants to rekindle their old flame. Or do they?

**** A good read for the Christmas holiday. This story will keep you in the holiday mood, but keep you far away from the shopping crowd (at least during the time you are reading anyway). Lots of hot bedroom scenes within this tale too. The author, Christie Ridgway, spends time with Tracy and her husband, Dan, too. They are Bailey's mother and stepfather. Watching Tracy and Dan is just as much fun as watching Bailey and Finn! All-in-all, this is perfect for a romantic evening at home, after a day of hectic holiday shopping. One word of warning: do not read unless your lover is home. Enough said. ****

4.0 out of 5 stars Sexy Christmas cheer!, March 9, 2007

This review is from: Must Love Mistletoe (Mass Market Paperback)
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It definitely had laugh out loud light moments, but it was also balanced with deep tragedy. You could feel the long-ago love emanating from each of them, just waiting to come out and be embraced.

My only problem was that I felt the book was a bit padded with sex scenes. I like them as well as the next girl, but after a few of them, I was ready for the story to move along.

A very fun and sweet book with great style!

Must Love Mistletoe by Christie Ridgway is a fun modern romance. Bailey returns home to run the families Christmas story while her parents marriage is on the rocks. Her highschool love has moved back in with his grandmother for the month. Sparks fly - but they both have some much baggage it is a interesting journey. Check out Book 2 of the series Not Another New Year's (My favorite so far).

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh My Books! Review, December 23, 2010
Bailey is a 20 something lawyer who hates Christmas. Which is funny, because her family runs a Christmas store. But when her parents fight, it's her who has to take care of the store. She can deal with it, until Finn, her ex-boyfriend, is staying with his family in the house next door.

It's not like she isn't still in love with him, right? After all, she was the one who left him, ten years ago. But the spark is definitely alive, because when she sees him, he isn't just her ex bad boyfriend but a super sexy secret agent.

Finn isn't the bad boy he used to be. He's grown up, working and taking care of his grandmother. He wasn't expecting to meet Bailey at her house....and he definitely doesn't want anything to do with her. She broke his heart ten years ago.

But their reunion is unavoidable. They still like each other, and they are like magnets. Bailey doesn't want to hurt him (and her) again, but she can't stop being curious about this new Finn, and Finn can't stop wanting her.

Must Love Mistletoe is a great romance. At first I thought is was going to be light and easy, but I was surprised to find realistic characters dealing with their drama. Bailey is afraid of caring about someone, including her family. And Finn, still with a broken heart, is dealing with his almost dying trauma and taking care of his sick grandmother.

But not because of these details it's a sad story. It's just realistic. And the author manages to combine this issues with funny jokes and jovial personalities that makes you laugh and wanting to read more.

I loved the feeling of this book. It was definitely Christmas, but not exasperated. The romance was cute and a little naughty, and I felt as if the characters were not just falling in love but also growing up.

The end was sweet but not so "oh, we are the perfect family because it's Christmas!", which I liked. Bailey's and Finn's story not just romance, but is including family and personal issues.

Overall, I loved this book. It's cute, funny, naughty and heartwarming...perfect for this season!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Just Sugar-Plums, December 27, 2007
This review is from: Must Love Mistletoe (Mass Market Paperback)
Great story--I thought I'd be picking up a sugary-sweet low-on-drama Christmas read, but I was surprised to find developed back-stories, realistic dramas, and hard-hitting emotions. In fact, my only complaint about the book is that there are some pieces of drama and back-story I felt like didn't completely get resolved. Overall though, I loved it. Cute and funny, but also touching and dramatic. Great read!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read!, November 28, 2006
This review is from: Must Love Mistletoe (Mass Market Paperback)
If you only buy one holiday romance this season, this is the one to get! Bailey Sullivan is the original Christmas Scrooge, despite the fact that her family owns a store that sells everything to do with Christmas. So when she comes home to help her mother run the family business and she runs into Finn Jacobson, Bailey's long-lost high school sweetheart (and the boy next door) sparks fly! Complicating the situation is her mother's separation from her husband, Dan (which leads to a nice back story in the book).

This is the first book that I've read by Christie Ridgway but it definitely won't be the last! Especially since one of Finn's friends is getting his own story, Not Another New Year's, to be released on January 1.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful, February 12, 2012
This review is from: Must Love Mistletoe (Mass Market Paperback)
I bought this on my kindle and enjoyed it far more than I expected given the title. There were actually two stories in one and both were well done, the characters really came alive. I've read several of her novels and while some have depth of character and place , others seem thrown together in a rush with lots of sex as filler and little believable storyline. When she's good she's really good, otherwise so so.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Christmas Romance, July 7, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Must Love Mistletoe (Mass Market Paperback)
Who say's you can't go home again. At least that is what happened in this book. Girl went home to find first love there and thru mis-steps and unspoken words between them they find their way back to each other. A nice Holiday read. Yes this book has been out for several years and it is summer when I am reading it but that doesn't make it any cutier of a story. 4 Stars....

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Love this Book, March 27, 2008
This review is from: Must Love Mistletoe (Mass Market Paperback)
I loved this book. I picked it up to read before going to bed and three hours later I had finished it. Must Love Mistletoe was seriously one of the best books I've read in a long time.

The story moved quickly and the characters were wonderfully constructed.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of romance.

This book was my first book by this author. I loved it! The story was fast paced and very funny. The secondary characters are great and do not take away from the story. I am definitely going to get other books by this author.
