Book Description

September 27, 2011
Nightclub dancer Chloe Lamoureaux just met the man of her dreams: Aidan Raines is charming, considerate, rich, and hot. Of course, he's a little mysterious about his age. And his favourite drink. And he's not much for sunlight. But he's asked her to marry him, and she's ready to do it. Her identical twin sister, Chuck, isn't so sure. Maybe being a tabloid reporter has skewed her judgment, but to Chuck, Aidan and his brother Sebastian look like honest-to-Dracula vampires. Especially Sebastian: beguiling, seductive, and just a hint of dangerous. Maybe she wouldn't mind him taking a little taste. But with Chloe's life in the balance, she has to know - do they want hot love or hot blood? Or maybe...a little of both?

2.0 out of 5 stars Must Love Vampires October 3, 2011
Format:Paperback
*slight spoilers*

Must Love Vampires actually contains two stories, each coming in at about 100 pages. Following identical twins and their encounters with vampire brothers.

"Vampnapped"

"I'm like a sexual camel. I can live on that one orgasm for another ten years, easy."

That quote makes me giggle. And I think this book could have been a very light-hearted funny book, if it didn't have such a ridiculous plot. Charlotte Lamoreaux, aka Chuck, works for the Sin City Tattler in Las Vegas. Think National Enquirer. She spends her time hunting down big foot and ghost stories, and is still waiting for her big break - and she think she knows exactly what story will push her into the spotlight. Sebastian Raines, casino owner and not only is he "one of the richest men in Nevada, possibly the entire United States or even the world" but she thinks he is a vampire. Secretly following him, she needs to get into his penthouse to investigate her suspicions. She comes up with this plan: pretend to be her identical twin sister, Chloe who is a showgirl at Sebastian's casino. Chuck who knows Chloe's dance routine, dresses up like her and performs her show which allows her to gain backstage pass. But before she can attempt to sneak up to Sebastian's penthouse, he realizes she is following him. Using his vampire powers (oh no, he really is a vampire!) he makes her sleep and kidnaps her up to his penthouse.

From here silliness ensues. He transforms into a cat to keep an eye on her as she awakes and starts searching through his penthouse. Meanwhile, he is very attracted to her. When he finally transforms into a man and she realizes vampires are real she doesn't even freak out that much. Now, I assume no one else in the world knows vampire exist - but we get no world building in this book so maybe I'm mistaken. I was even more confused when Sebastian admits he doesn't have any condoms and Chuck says, "I've done my homework. Vampires can't carry blood-borne human diseases or transmit them to others. And pregnancy is a non -issue." What research did Chuck do? From other tabloid magazines? It doesn't make any sense.

From here they can't control their attraction and sleeping with each other is the only option. Sebastian had planned on erasing Chuck's memory so she wouldn't blab to the Tattler about the existence of vampires but after having sex, he is too sleepy and wore out to worry about it. He has been alive for 400 years, and sex with Chuck is just too much to take? 24 hours later, they are pretty much in love and even imply that one day they will be married. Not cute and funny, more just makes you want to roll your eyes.

"Married...With Fangs"

Although Vampnapped didn't do it for me, I carried forward with the second short story involving Chuck's twin sister Chloe. Taking place during the same time period, while Chuck is out stalking Sebastian, Chloe is racing to the alter with her boyfriend of one month, Aidan (Sebastian's brother). I thought okay, this story might turn out better because they are already in love and ready to get married.

But I was wrong. They get married and have pages of sex Pretty hot sex actually, but I digress. Because then we discover Aidan has yet to tell Chloe he is a vampire! Really? You marry her and she has no idea? But during sex he can't control himself and he bites her and starts drinking her blood. Her reaction is more like - dude, you bit me? And then falls asleep, waking up the next morning to think it was a dream. But Aidan feels like it is time to confess. He admits to her he is a vampire - of course she doesn't believe him. Although she can see his fangs and his fang marks on her neck.

But wait! The secrets aren't done! Chloe has one of her own - she has a three year old son who is staying at her mom's house while she raced to the alter. Surprise Aidan! You are a step-daddy. What is wrong with these people? Aidan takes the news well, and wants to go meet his new son immediately! So Chloe takes him. Even though she has an inkling he is a vampire. She has no idea if vampires are dangerous - but she puts her son in his path?

At this point my head started hurting. I like lighter, funnier silly romance books sometimes. But I have to at least be able to believe in the character's actions and motives. These characters and these plots made no sense.

Must Love Vampires by Heidi Betts
* I received a copy of this book from Kensington in exchange for an honest review*

Vampnapped

Charlotte (Chuck) offered to stand in her for her sister so Chloe and her boyfriend could get married. Chuck had an ulterior motive for agreeing to be a showgirl for the night; she needed to gain access to the casino areas that was restricted to employee only. Chuck is a reporter for Tattler and she is after a story that will propel her to the top.

Sebastian is the owner of Inferno, the most popular casino in Las Vegas. He is intrigued by the showgirl that has been following him, she has been dating his brother Aiden. He is determined to keep Aiden from making a mistake so he kidnaps her after her final performance of the night. Little did he know that he would be too late?

Chuck is the complete opposite of her showgirl sister. She is sexy and smart but she keeps to herself. She writes for a tabloid, chasing supernatural stories or just making them up if needed. She spends her spare time with her family and nephew or alone. She is lonely but she didn't realize how lonely until she met Sebastian.

Sebastian may be one of the richest men in Vegas and super HOT but there is something missing in his life. He is used to being alone, using women for arm candy and then sending them on their way. He's never had a desire to share his secret with any female, until Chuck came along. There's something about her that calls to him. Chuck and Sebastian are good for each other; they both fill a need within each other that neither knew was there.

Married.......With Fangs

Chloe is excited to have the night off with her boyfriend Aiden. She left her sister in her place at Lust while she and Aiden visited one of the many chapels in Vegas, complete with an Elvis preacher. She is a single mother that is looking for financial security for her young son.

Aiden is in love with Chloe and is excited to be married to her. He feels guilty for hiding his true nature from Chloe and plans to ease her into it until he bites her in a moment of passion. Alone in his underground apartment he places his fate in her hands.

Chloe can't believe he bit her. She is upset at him for keeping a secret from her but she's no better. Aiden is willing to do whatever it takes to prove to her that he is telling the truth. He isn't upset with her about Jake, he's ecstatic, he's been longing for a family of his own. It's within his grasp, if he can convince Chloe to give them a chance.

Chloe loves being a dancer but she loves being a mom even more. She is concerned that she won't be able to care for her son if she can't dance so she's looking for financial security. She enjoys Aiden's company and the sex is great, plus his brother is one of the richest men in Vegas.

Aiden may not be as rich as his brother but he's done all right on his own. He owns an apartment building that he had built from below ground up, literally. It's his own retreat that is just his and he can't wait to share it with Chloe and her son Jake.

These two are great together and the sex is super hot. I loved the scene where he bit her for the first time. It was too funny. The scene in Jake's room was also great.

Overall I enjoyed this book. My favorite line in the book was when Charlotte was talking about her research and she mentioned JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood. It's one of my all time favorite series. There is so much to love about this book though. It has scorching hot sex scenes with humor mixed in. I loved when Charlotte was searching for Sebastian's "blood" supply and opened all of his expensive bottles of wine to make sure they were truly wine. I give Must Love Vampires 4 Flaming Hearts.

This book is actually two stories about the same characters.
Vampnapped & Married with Fangs
Charlotte (Chuck) and Chloe are identical twins but opposites. Chloe is a dancer while Chuck writes tabloid news stories. Chuck spends most of her time alone, which she seems to be fine with until she meet Sebastian, the super rich and cool owner of the hottest place in Vegas. Chloe is dating Sebastian's brother Aidan and he feels she is wrong for him, so he kidnaps her. Chuck is aiming for a legitimate newspaper job, so she sets her sites on an expose of Sebastian. Of course, things get hot and heavy between the two while Aidan is making his move on Chloe when he bites her. Chloe has a few secrets of her own (like a child!). I really enjoyed the humor in these stories! I would love to see more detail about the characters.
