The list author says: "Hello parents! As we all know, there are times in our children's lives that are difficult to navigate. Times when there is a death of a pet or family member, times to discuss good touch/bad touch, and times to talk about strangers. All of these recommended books can be used with children age 2+.
With grief/loss, I believe that its better to have these books available and in your regular book rotation, than to scramble to run out and get them in an emergency situation. Talking about loss can also include discussing change/the seasons-like in Lifetimes, and The Fall of Freddie the Leaf (a book I have used with kids and adults to talk about loss and grief for 10 years). We are bibliophiles in our home, and truly believe in utilizing good literature to help our child understand himself, and the world around him.
I have utilized all of these books listed here in my professional practice, and also with my own children.
