Before buying this book, I was shopping for an '85 carb'd GT to play with. Afraid of electronic fuel injection (EFI) I figured the last carb'd stang would be the perfect place to start my new hobby--performance racing and its associated mechanics / maintenance. However, the chapter describing the differences in all 5.0 engines immediately highlighted the high-performance drawbacks of several model years, including the 85 to my surprise. Before reading this chapter, I was just about to place [a lot of money] on the table for an 85 GT, but now I know better and my money will be going towards a better baseline performance platform--a model year range specifically recommended by this book. Any book that immediately saves me this much time, money, and effort rates 5 stars. A MUST buy for beginner Mustang 5.0 performance enthusiasts!

I found this book the best of the three I bought from Amazon. It saved me time on the first upgrade I was doing on my 91 LX, which paid for the book right then and there. It gives some helpful details like which size wrench you'll need at each step.

Overall good book too see what can be done on your mustang, pictures are good. If you just got a mustang fox or older GT, its good for checking out.

If you have never modified a Mustang before or are getting started on your first project, this is a good book to have. It covers all the basic bolt ons, how they work, and how to install them. Good photos and tips to make your project go without a glitch.

The book has numerous projects that most mustang owners either need or want to do their car. Every project has easy to follow instructions with lots of pictures. I have already completed two of the projects from this book, and found the instructions to be very clear and helpful. The author adds hints, recommendations, tools and part information to complete the project. Most project books are very confusing, but not this one. If you can only afford one project book, this is it.

THE BOOK WAS PRETTY GOOD HOWEVER, I FEEL IT LACKED A LOT MORE INFORMATION FOR THE PROJECTS IT DISCUSSED. FOR EXAMPLE IT TALKED ABOUT THROTLE BODY REPLACEMENT BUT DID NOT MENTION HOW A 70MM T.B.WOULD BE BETTER THAN A 65MM T.B. OTHER THAN IT'S SIZE OBVIOUSLY. WHAT ABOUT GAS MILAGE WHAT COULD YOU EXPECT? WHICH IS SUITABLE FOR EVERYDAY DRIVING? THE BOOK NEVER MENTIONED ANY OF THAT. ANOTHER PROJECT WAS AIR CLEANERS IT DID NOT DISCUSS THE DIFFERENT TYPES THAT ARE OFFERED AND WHAT THE ADVANTAGES ARE COMPARED TO THE OTHER. ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR HOP UPS ARE COMPUTER CHIPS, THE BOOK DIDN'T EVEN TALK ABOUT IT. OH, BUT IT TALKED ABOUT NITROUS AND BLOWERS THOUGH?????? I PERSONALLY DID NOT LIKE THE BOOK. IT LACKED LOTS OF INFORMATION THAT YOU WOULD NEED IN ORDER FOR YOU TO DECIDE WHETHER YOU WOULD WANT TO TAKE ON A PROJECT TO BEGIN WITH.
