Book Description

Harlequin Historical March 1, 2007
With the deed to her land and a kid brother to protect, mustanger Skylar Daines shouldn't have tangled with the likes of Tucker Morgan. But his stolen kiss scatters her senses and, quicker than a whirling dust devil, they're wed!

To her relief, Tucker's keen to fix the marital slipup—and then he tells her the deed she holds belongs to him, and him alone. Maybe she shouldn't rush to have their marriage annulled. No man, no matter how good-looking, is going to swindle Skylar out of the one thing she yearns for most—a home.

More About the Author

Stacey Kayne grew up at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in California. She spent her summers camping in the high country and adventure seeking with her brothers. Though her passion for writing came as a shock after buying her first computer in the summer of 2001, it's not a wonder her first novels were borne from daydreams about fictional characters and their wild escapades through those rugged mountains.

An American history college course was a major catalyst in her writing aspirations. Steeped in facts and images of the American West, her mind began its usual wandering. With a computer at her disposal, she decided to type out her daydreams--halfway through her history course, Bride of Shadow Canyon was created.

While writing her first western, Stacey discovered that an adventurous setting with ever-changing untamed scenery is a driving force of her imagination. Rugged, dusty, wild, resilient--there's such an elemental connection between the setting and the characters. Her mind is constantly searching for ways to submerge new characters in the beauty and grandeur of the American West.

4.0 out of 5 stars Romance Junkies review of Mustang Wild--, April 10, 2007
This review is from: Mustang Wild (Harlequin Historical) (Mass Market Paperback)
Skylar Daines is stubborn, beautiful, and one of the best horse trainers around. When her father is murdered, she must find his partner, Chance Morgan. Wanting to put down roots and create a secure home for her brother, Sky will stop at nothing to reach Wyoming and realize her plans. The man she remembers as Chance is finally located in a saloon. While his smile makes her heart pound and her palms sweat, she has no idea that man she assumes is Chance is actually his identical twin, Tucker.

Tucker Morgan has never met a more cantankerous and obstinate woman in all his life. The fact that she makes him long for hearth, home, and forever doesn't sit well with Tuck, who happens to be a love em' and leave em' kind of cowboy. When a card bet goes wrong, Tucker finds himself the husband of Skylar Daines. While he verbally pronounces his want of an annulment, deep down he finds himself wanting forever. With his hat in his hand and his heart on his sleeve, Tucker sets out to prove to Skylar that they are compatible in more ways than just ranching.

I loved the storyline of MUSTANG WILD, which is set in the wilds of the untamed west. Skylar is a strong heroine with just enough unknown feminine wiles to grab the attention of Tucker Morgan. Tucker, on the other hand, doesn't know what hit him. At turns exasperated and amused with Skylar, his surrender to their attraction is sensual and out-of-this-world sexy. I laughed out loud at Skylar's completely unimpressed view of Tucker; to see his consternation at wanting to protect the woman he now knows is his wife was quite possibly one of the sweetest scenes I have yet read. Throw Tucker's twin brother and one bad guy into this delightful mix and I was happy to finish this novel in one sitting.

MUSTANG WILD is the debut novel in Stacey Kayne's new WILD series. Looking forward to future installments, I can't want to see if Chance gets his own storyline.

5.0 out of 5 stars Recharge Your Western-Reading Juices, October 13, 2008
This review is from: Mustang Wild (Harlequin Historical) (Mass Market Paperback)
I started this book on Saturday and finished it the same day. This book was incredible. It has the great elements of an authentic western setting, engaging characters, sensual romance, humor, and danger. You will love Skylar as she is an incredible woman with a sense of honor but also the grit and determination to do what it takes to make a life for her younger brother. She was forced from a young age to suppress her feminine side and to work and to live as a cowboy, and nobody would question her abilities. Skylar ends up accidentally married to playful, but dangerous former bounty hunter, Tucker Morgan. He's gorgeous and tempting, but having a home for her brother is her first priority. The end goal is to get to Wyoming, get paid for her mustangs, and get an annulment. She just has to keep her hands off him, and his hands off her. Tucker wasn't looking at getting married ever, but he has one heck of a bride on his hands. She's willing to pull her weight and then some, and earns his respect. And she's beautiful. He finds it harder than he thought to keep from taking his wife to bed, and soon finds that he wants her forever. I really enjoyed this book. It was fun, it was intense, and I felt like I was there on the trail to Wyoming, with dust in my mouth, the cold wind blowing on face, hearing the mustangs neighing, and dodging bullets, along with the characters. If you have been feeling at a loss as less and less western romances are being published, I highly recommend picking up this book. It will keep you entertained for hours indeed. Stacey Kayne is a new go to author for me when it comes to western romances.

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing Western...., October 28, 2010

I was hooked on this book by the end of the first chapter, and it stayed with me (literally on my person) until I finished it!

This is a story about a proud, capable, talented woman who's femininity has been hidden and discouraged by her father for as long as she can remember. Skylar was a breath of fresh air, and the way that she proved herself to be loyal and steadfast to her younger brother had me cheering for her from the very beginning of this book. Tucker was so much fun! The way he shows Skylar he loves her made for many "ahhhh" moments.

This book has it all. I was laughing one minute, choked up the next, and as the bullets were flying was hanging on to my seat for dear life. This is the way westerns were meant to be and I can't wait for the second in the series.
