4.0 out of 5 stars Good Smokin
HAVE HAD THIS SMOKER GOING ON MY 2ND YEAR WITH IT, SMOKES FOOD GREAT AS I HAVE RUN AROUND 200 IBS OF MEAT THROUGH IT. ONLY DRAW BACK IS YOU CANNOT HANG LONG TUBES OF SUMMER SAUSAGE IN IT AS MOST OF THE TIME THE BOTTOM 1/2 OF SAUSAGE WILL BURN TO A CRISP. TO BAD IT DIDN'T HAVE 4 TO 8 INCHES MORE OF HEIGHT TO PLAY WITH INSIDE FOR SUCH DELICACIES. IT WAS SHIPPED EXPEDIENTLY...

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed overall
The smoker arrived promptly but after getting it out of the box the wiring for the heating element was not hooked up correctly, in fact two wires were completely loose. Fixing it was fairly simple but required taking the bottom apart, but this is something that should not be necessary. The quality of this smoker leaves a lot to be desired, everything about it feels...

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this smoker, September 22, 2005
This review is from: Mustang Insulated Smoker (Kitchen)
Received this for my birthday and absolutely love how food turns out and the convenience of electric. Started out with chicken and from there have done salmon, blue fish, ribs, pork tenderloin, and even the trimming off of a whole filet mignon, which were out of this world with a little smoke. Still learning the nuances of smoking, but it's fun and the whole neighborhood wants to know what we're cooking! Definitely suggest this item...

1.0 out of 5 stars Got what I paid for, September 15, 2007
This review is from: Mustang Insulated Smoker (Kitchen)
I bought this smoker as my first smoker experiment. I was looking for something not to big, electric and not to expensive.
Well that is what i got, but one thing was missing from my original list. Something that could get and stay hot enough to smoke meat. The review below very correctly describes the cheap nature of the smoker construction so i won't bore you with a repeat of those details, however he forgot to mention one other important flaw.....
IT CAN'T SMOKE MEAT AT MORE THAN 130 DEGREES. When you preheat it the temp gets up into the 150-165 range but as soon as you put in your meat it goes to about 90 degrees and stays there for about 3-4 hours before getting to about 135 where it stays..
Spend a little more and get something else. This one will disappoint you.

The smoker arrived promptly but after getting it out of the box the wiring for the heating element was not hooked up correctly, in fact two wires were completely loose. Fixing it was fairly simple but required taking the bottom apart, but this is something that should not be necessary. The quality of this smoker leaves a lot to be desired, everything about it feels cheap and flimsy. An arm had come completely off of the guard that sits over the burner plate, they are just held in place by shoddy spot welds. The thermostat is really cheap and it is very hard to keep the temperature controlled on this smoker. The thermometer is a tiny, cheap meat thermometer that fits in a hole punched in the door. The instructions gave us a laugh as it is poorly translated english. I bought this primarily to smoke chickens and it did a very modest job, the chickens needed to be finished on the BBQ but ended up with good smoke flavor. Spend another hundred bucks or so and you can get something much nicer.
