4.0 out of 5 stars This model does not accomodate a 42" Plasma TV
I bought a 42" Panasonic Plasma TV and this model was too small for it although the description states it holds up to a 42" screen. I had to send it back and get the next size up, the same brand and it works well, very steady and cheaper than most models available.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mustang MV-STAT2 Universal LCD/Plasma Wall Mount for 26" to 42" TVs
First let me say that after my initial problems this has been a great wall mount for my 26" Sharp Aquos. But the bottom part of the mount is visible so if you're picky about that you may want to go with another option. This problem may not apply to larger tvs.
Also the instructions clearly state that this product must be mounted on 2 wall studs to be able to...

5.0 out of 5 stars Oversight?, December 1, 2006

First, let me say that this is an excellent product. It is well made and once mounted correctly you could hang a truck on it. However, one thing not mentioned in the directions is that the wall holes line up 19" o/c. Maybe they have 19" studs in China or something, but most of us have 16" studs. I was fortunate that another reviewer alerted me to the problem and I moved the spring clips in so that the studs lined up. I had to buy a $10 tool called and inside/outside spring clip plier at Advance Auto, but it was well worth the trip. With the four supplied screws and washers firmly into the studs I would not be hesitant to hang a 36" plasma TV from it at all.

Also the instructions clearly state that this product must be mounted on 2 wall studs to be able to function properly. However the brackets that are actually mounted on the wall are 19" apart. Standard studs are 16" apart. So I had to take off the rings that hold the brackets in place to slide the brackets into place 16" apart. This was only a minor setback after I figured out the problem.

4.0 out of 5 stars You will need additional tool-snap ring pliers, December 30, 2006
This review is from: Mustang MV-STAT2 Flat Panel for 26-Inch to 36-Inch for TV, Silver (Electronics)
I am writing this b/c I read another review that was very helpful concerning this product. This seems to be a great wall mount, and it is much cheaper and better made others I have seen. You will need to get a set of snap ring or circlip pliers to move the adjustable snap rings which allows to adjust to different stud sizes (they come 19"). THAT is what everybody is talking about in these reviews. It sounds like some have simply cut of the rings, but I recommend the pliers. I got mine from Lowe's but they also sell them from Amazon. I was not familiar with this tool so I wanted to see it in person. It basically has 2 little end pieces which fit in small holes in the snap ring, and then spreads them apart. I spent $20, but you can get them for $5-$7 on this site. I can vouch for the channel lock ones with the blue handles (took me about 5 minutes just to figure them out as they are adjustable to either contract or expand).

My wife bought a 26"LCD TV and wanted me to mount it on the wall to create more space in living room. So I bought the Mustang Kit . It is well worth the money it is sturdy and well made and has plenty of extra parts for all TV models and sizes.THE VINMAN

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Worth the Effort!, December 13, 2006
This review is from: Mustang MV-STAT2 Flat Panel for 26-Inch to 36-Inch for TV, Silver (Electronics)
With so many other mounts to choose from, why buy one that doesn't fit US homes (16" apart studs)? True, you can jury rig the unit and move the mounting plates in, but why? This product is unacceptable for anyone wanting to mount on studs behind drywall. It's probably fine for brick, stone, or somewhere else where you're using anchor bolts.
I'm returning mine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Many of the other reviewers are simply wrong - great mount if you have a brain., December 18, 2006
This review is from: Mustang MV-STAT2 Flat Panel for 26-Inch to 36-Inch for TV, Silver (Electronics)
I am getting a little miffled by the clueless people that post reviews. Its clear the some reviewers are bad mouthing this project because THEY are not competent to use it.

I have mounted more than 50 LCDs on walls and this mount is one great value. FIRST, mounting any flat panel on the wall is serious. Its not for every homeowner with a screwdriver. ITS NOT LIKE HANGING A BIG PICTURE. Just because you were bright enough to buy the panel DOES not mean you are competent to mount it on the wall. This is not a DIY project for anyone.

This is a well made and highly adjustable mount. Its solid and square and will hold a lot of weight. One of its better feature is that IT IS ADJUSTABLE for MANY different stud spacings. Yes, you need a tool to open the split rings, but the tool is cheap -- and split rings are a fool proof way of locking the brackets on the rods. Split rings NEVER come loose.

STOP WINING about 16" stud spacings. NOT all stud spacing is 16" -- its not unusual for framers to be off an inch or throw in an extra stud. This unit gives you the flexibility to match the EXACT stud or other spacing you have. MOST OTHER UNITS do not.

I recently did an install where the only studs I could use were 12" apart and in the middle of where the panel would go. I moved both brackets in, attached them to the studs and hung the panel by having hooks on the panel outside the wall brackets. The install looked perfect and was strong enough to hold my weight.

Complaints that this mount is not good for drywall? OF COURSE NOT! NO mount can be attached to drywall. DRYWALL IS NOT STRUCTURAL. IF you even think about hanging a 26" or large panel on drywall -- you should have your head examined. THESE ARE THE PEOPLE that LCD and PLASMA manufacturers worry about. And with good reason. I have seen THREE homes where people mounted plasmas on drywall with BIG regrets. One fell off by its own weight, and two fell off when bumped.

Mounting any flat panel on a wall is a SERIOUS project for competent people. This is a serious mount with lots of adjustments. AND TONS of mounting hardware of all sizes. Just because you are not capable of the task at hand does not indicate a flaw in this item.

If you get this item and give it to a competent person to install, they will thank you and you will have a solid, good looking mount.
