Product Description
Harissa is a classic table accompaniment in Moroccan cooking and at the Moroccan table. Mustapha's Harissa is the gold standard and nothing sold in here in the USA can really compare. Made mainly from Moroccan hot red chiles, red bell pepper, olive oil, a touch of tomato, oil, salt and spices. It is an essential accompaniment at the Moroccan table, and almost as ubiquitous as olives.
Mustapha's harissa is served alongside couscous and tagines, it has an unforgettably intense, slow burn that will spice up any dish - each diner can stir it into the accompanying dish to suit personal taste. Its relatively salty quality takes to lifting the flavors of milder foods such as couscous.
You can serve tiny dabs of harissa as a side sauce for grilled and roast meats and poultry, or use it as a general flavor booster for stews, soups and sauces. If you're looking to create an authentic Moroccan meal, this is an accompaniment.

If you like hot sauce, you'll like this harissa. This harissa is salty and hot, with a roasted pepper taste to it. Very good to use as an ingredient in Moroccan cooking or as a condiment. My spouse is from Morocco and says this is an authentic tasting harissa. A staple in my house! We love it on chicken and sandwiches, especially.

This is a great harissa!!! Very flavorful. I developed my love of harissa in France and this rivals any I've tried. This is much better than the tube variety. It's perfect!

I just bought this at Sur La Table. I love all spicy sauces and I had heard of harissa but never tried it. I don't have anything to compare it to, so I'll just rate it on it's own merits. Mustapha's Harissa is flavorful, fresh-tasting, and packs a bite. It's a great condiment for soups, egg dishes and meats. So far. I'm sure I'll be trying it with more kinds of foods in the coming days. Chili-heads - heads-up on this new spicy find.

Sour, Oily & Too Salty
this harissa was way too salty and sour. I'm not sure if they used lemons to make it but it was just very bitter. Also way too oily and salty. I wouldn't recommend this item.

Good stuff, but the postage costs more.
This is a wonderful fiery condiment! I suppose I should have checked the profile before placing the order. The handling and shipping ended up costing more than the product.

not good
compared to the mina harissa this product isn't good at all... very bitter, too salty and overall tastes bad. I used it once and haven't touched it since. Not a good product!

Just what is needed to complete the dish
I have used this product in tagine dishes. It adds just the right amount of kick to the ingredients. I use about a tablespoon and that is enough without being overbearing.
