Still Not Sure,
By Verhoff (Ohio) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mustek BearPaw 1200CU Flatbed Scanner (Office Product)
Received the scanner quickly from amazon. Was a little surprised to see it in a "white - oem" box. And after looking it over, I still think it is a Rufub. No mention of that in the description of course. Using the scanner on a win2000 system was a real pain to set up and only works on the usb port on the back panel of the computer - the drivers will not install thru a hub! This is something to keep in mind if you have many usb devices. I bought the scanner mainly for the style. I don't scan much so the slower speeds don't bother me. The bearpaw software is also about a joke - it will scan the entire surface and expect you to crop this huge graphic - the twain works so much better and quicker to preview and select the area you really want to scan. Overall this is how I would rate it 1-5: Appearance - 5

You get what you pay for.,

This was my very first scanner and was extremely excited about buying it. I love the BearPaw features that lets you scan, copy, e-mail and fax right from your desktop. The USB connection was great. The software that was bundled with my scanner is very weak. But they also tell you that you are stuck with the software that it came with. That means no upgrades. The scanner is extremely slow. I would not recommend this scanner for a large project unless you have 1/2 day to complete it.There is no manual and your web advviser may or may not know what to do. It is difficult to import and export pictures..But you get what you pay for.I would recommend this for home use only.

I have this scanner at home for personal use and have used it to scan in a lot of my old photos. I think the pictures turn out great! The quality is at least as good as my digital camera. I run the software on Win XP and I have had no problems. It is so simple even my computer illiterate in-laws run it effortlessly.
