1.0 out of 5 stars Not What Was Expected, January 7, 2005

This review is from: Mustek DVDR100A DVD Recorder, Record Dvd+r, DVD+RW (Personal Computers)
This recorder comes with a poorly written manual. Installation instructions are hard to read and covers only a few types of set up. The front-panel controls are few and basic only. No front-panel cable connections available. Difficult to set up on older tv. This recorder only comes with a 90 day parts and labor warranty on defects.

My unit began to have difficulty at around 60 days. On playback of DVD-video disc or recorded DVD+RW disc the sound began to have major problems. The sound began to give major static. Called tech support and they determined that the unit needed to be shipped back to Mustek for repair. They do not pay for shipping and insurance cost even though it is a manufacturer defective product. It was not what I expected and am very disappointed. Will not buy another Mustek product ever again...

2.0 out of 5 stars mustek or mistake?, August 15, 2005
This review is from: Mustek DVDR100A DVD Recorder, Record Dvd+r, DVD+RW (Personal Computers)
I bought this item when it first came out on one of the shopping channels...the foLlowing yr the price dropped by 100 bucks...it worked good for a few months then various troubles...Not all brands of blank dvd's were compatable... after watching a movie dvd it made a rumbling sound and cabinet got real hot..sometimes their was aloud buz in playback...sometimes thier was a black band on the bottom on the playback of home recorded dvds..the tv tuner was erratic a times..although in my area we have two local nbc channels (5&6)it often would record one but not the other.. i was told that the tv tuner was going out....when u programmed the player to record for like 4 or 5 hrs and changed the quality of recording it would deduct 1 hr ea time u set the different record speeds..Worse was that i bought the extended warranty and it was not honored till the manufacters was over..so it sat in a box for 6 months
(manufacture & exteneded warranter) said ea other was responsible for the repairs..run dont walk from mustek prdts
