1.0 out of 5 stars Worts portable DVD - cheaply made. Look elsewhere, March 5, 2007
This review is from: Mustek MP95 9-Inch Portable DVD Player (Electronics)
I dont usually make a product review but I am so mad about this CHEAP product. I bought this Mustek MP95 portable DVD player for Christmas. It stop playing after one month (I seldom use it). I keep getting the "DISC NOT AVAILABLE" on any new and original DVD disc. Tech support told me to crank the unit by moving the lens assembly back-and-forth for 1 minute. Well, now I have to crank it several times to make it work. Avoid MP95 and look elsewhere. I own Initial brand DVD that I bought 4 years ago and still work even after being constantly abuse everyday in my car. I wish stick with Initial.

So far I have been dissapointed by TWO portable DVD/MP3 units... first, a 3.5 inch Coby I got for $99 at Suncoast. Its screen didn't do the subtitles on my Anime and Japanese Rock Videos justice. Buuuut, it did do some pretty amazing things, like play MP3 DVD's (i didn't even know such a thing existed til I made one in Nero), as well as the Dir en Grey music video VCD I made, and then there was the $200 10 inch Nortech Media dvd player my mother in Ohio got me for x-mas.

For being so expensive, it sure didn't do a whole lot... it wouldn't play any Mp3 CDR's (mom said the guy at Sam's Club assured her it played mp3) and it was permanently stuck in 16:9 ratio, which I despise... it makes everyone look short and fat. And I like my japanese rockers to be tall and skinny dammit! I wish I could have gotten this Mustek instead, if it REALLY does support Divx, then I wouldn't hafta spend hours converting all my fan-subbed anime and J-rock vids.

I could just burn them as Data disc, and fit close to 3 hours on a single DVD-R! I really hope this thing isn't 16:9 only like the Nortech, I wish people made DVD/MP3 players that could switch between aspect ratios and also do scrolling ID3 tags on my MP3's like my old Rio Volt SP150 did.

Oh and this thing plays MPEG also? That's awesome!

One less thing i'll hafta convert before burning!
