I've only had this a day or two and so far it works fine and plays everything I've tried. Picture is fine, small speakers kind of suck but plug it into the tv and it works just as well as a regular dvd player. I haven't used it enough to give a full opinion on functions, etc., but I did want to raise a concern for all would-be purchasers.

You can only operate the player with the remote. Ok, that's not totally true, you can press the play and stop button, but that's about it. If your remote dies or you lose it, it seems you're out of luck. Maybe a universal remote would work, but come on, this thing is designed to sit in YOUR LAP. Who needs a remote for that? A menu button and a couple of arrow keys would have been nice.

So overall, it seems OK but if you loose that tiny little remote, you're kind of lost. BTW, I talked to tech support and they were kind of proud that the remote was necessary to use the unit and confirm that you can't operate it without the remote.

The price is right ... $99... and it has better than average video ... however, when I got it home to use and started it up it rattled and sounded like loose ball bearings in a plastic cup... For the price yes, for the quality of construction no. The on/off switch is flimsy will probably break with repeated use, and as the review below states, without the remote control you have no control over the DVD.

Needless to say I had to return it and go through that hassle. So, If you do buy this DVD, check it out at a store, in a zone where it is somewhat quite, before bringing it home.

Took this with me overseas for my Marine Corps deployment! It's lightweight and quite reliable. Often times, we'd plug it in and play a movie and a dozen or so Marines would sit around it and "escape" for two hours or so! The picture is clear and it brought home to us! Since then, I use it to watch movies on those cross-country flights, my son watches movies in the car, and occasionally my friends bring smaller children that are easily "babysat" with a Disney flick! The memories of Iraq and Djibouti,Africa with my Mustek will forever be etched in my mind. What a great, inexpensive piece of equipment!
