3.0 out of 5 stars Mvix should have build it better, February 28, 2008
This review is from: Mvix Usa MX-780HD Hi-def Wireless Media Center (Electronics)
This is my second Mvix product after the 5000R, I have to admit the concept is great. Storing and streaming your media files and playing them on your home theater is very practical. It does play lots of codec and never have an issue with the playback quality. The problem with this unit is the poor construction quality. RCA Jacks pulled out with the cables from first use and the screws of the casing are loose could not tight them after installing the hard disk. Vibration noise from the hard disk is effecting the overall ambience.
I am disappointed but still like the device and it always impress my house guests. Hopefully Mvix one day will build a sturdy unit as they have a niche product that can easily sell well in today's market.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ceases to amaze me ... again, March 1, 2008
This review is from: Mvix Usa MX-780HD Hi-def Wireless Media Center (Electronics)

This one is my 2nd Mvix purchase. I bought the 760HD model 7-8 months back, and truly enjoyed it. When this new model came out, I gave the previous one to my dad... The new 780 has some good features and all of them work flawlessly. The free internet radio has embedded internet radio links to millions to radio stations from across the world.
This model comes with BOTH the IDE and SATA connectors for Hard Drive... but they decided to remove the IR-extender option from the back of the unit. (no idea why they did it). This player now supports a cool blue UI... slightly better than the previous model and a much better designed remote.
The video quality remains flawless. DVD-ISO playback is the hallmark of mvix and it does it very well. Very highly Recommended Product. IMHO.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Perfect Portable HTPC for Home and Travel, April 5, 2008
This review is from: Mvix Usa MX-780HD Hi-def Wireless Media Center (Electronics)
I bought this unit for storing my entire collection of DVDs and all videos that I have owned for the past 10-yrs. Installed a 1TB SATA HDD in the unit, the day this arrived. Spent over 2-days putting my entire collection on it ... powered-on and boom it plays everything. This is one the most immaculate pieces of hardware ever made. Plays my entire collection of divx, xvids and ISOs. What else can I ask for?

Its got some really neat features - Internet Radio, Wireless streaming, Auto-Scan Wireless function... (i watched a video from my stupid neighbors open network!). I have it setup such that I start the DVD ripping and then my PC automatically uploads the ripped ISO to this unit during night (scheduler). The robocopy + ndas function works flawlessly and has significantly increased the network transfer speeds.

I took this unit with me on one of my recent travels. It was great... I could plug it into the hotel-room TV and watch my videos. I wish this unit was a bit smaller for travel purposes... Maybe a 2.5" HDD unit will be great for such portability.

Overall, I couldnt be more satisfied with this piece of technology. Well made, and does exactly what it says. Highly Recommended A+++
