Serious compatibility issues + non-existent tech support = BAD,

I purchased this item hoping to build a small media server for my home. Unfortunately, i have not been able to get past the setup process, apparently due to my hard drives being incompatible (ErrCode 1034 - Format Error).
I attempted to contact MVIX, but they do not respond to my requests for support. I did find some posts on a public MVIX Community site that indicate that certain versions of the MVIX BOX (or MBOX) have compatibility issues with many models of hard drives. (Mine as manufactured in 10/08. Unfortunately, I am unable to find an official compatibility list, or even mention of any compatibility issues on their support site or official forums. I had already invested in the two 750G WD drives (purchased at the same time I bought the MBOX from a different vendor). My recommendation is to stay away from any MVIX products until such time that they can provide reasonable support for their hardware, and have proven that they are capable of properly testing equipment before selling it to the public. |
