5.0 out of 5 stars My Baby: First Step's - DS - I love the sequel!, November 10, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: My Baby First Steps (Video Game)
Hello as an autistic adult women gamer I'm a big fan of the My Baby series I have both My Baby Boy, My Baby Girl, My Baby: First Steps all for the ds.

I find myself happy but yet dissappointed at the same time with this game for lot of reason's:

We'll start with the happy side first:

Bedtime Stories - Cute
SandBox - Playing outside - Nice (But I feel as though they could have expanded some more on this area. They give you toys to play with out side but basically 5 or 6 toys the same & buy the rest in the shop the problem with that is there giving you the same 5 or 6 toy's but in different colors. They could have expanded some more on the toys instead of offering the same toys in about 15 different colors & it would have been nice if they left the park in from the first one.)
Feeding area - Given more of a selection for food's - Great
Decorating Baby's Room - Great
Bath time - Elephant blowing bubbles - Extremely cute
Shopping - There's 213 outfit's in all if your counting for both gender's yeah they both have completely different clothes plus toy's - Nice

Okay now for the dissappointing side:

I feel as though some of the level's were very repetative. I took notes on how to beat each activity given for each month so I would not forget how to beat some of the month's. I really wish they would have put a mutliplayer mode on this game as a playdate mode & added a extra profile slot. Yeah there's another downfall this game only has one profile slot go figure. I had to play this game 4 times before I figured out which outfit went with which. Once I figured out the Pirate Costume cheat & Santa Claus Costume Cheat. I restarted the whole game & am now playing over. But still love the game read further for the following cheat's in my review.

Over all I really love this game & wouldn't trade it for anything. I highly recommend it. Southpeak, Nobilis, & Dancing Dots did a great job!

You want 5 Golden teddy bears on each picture you take here's the cheats how to do it:

By the way just so everyone know's once you get a reflex camera then you'll get 5 golden teddy bears on each picture.

Pirate Costume Cheat:

Eye Patch - 200 points
Pirates Hat - 300 points
Pirates Chain - 150 points
Pirates Shirt & Jacket - 9000 points
Pirates Pants - 1500 points
Buccaneer's Shoes - 500 points

Santa Claus Costume Cheat: (Hint: You have to use the "Pirate Costume" so many times when giving granny her pictures & she'll give you this costume to unlock & yeah you can resell this costume back to the store if you want to once it's unlocked.)

Santa Claus Hat - 200 points
Santa Claus Coat - 750 points
Santa Claus Pants - 1000 points
Red Grandpa Glasses - 100 points
Grandad Shoes - 500 points

Hip Hop Costume Cheat:

Hip Hop Cap - 150 points
Gold Chain - 500 points
R'n'B Sweater - 600 points
Baggy White Pants - 500 points
R'n'B Sneakers - 500 points

SchoolGirl Costume Cheat:

SchoolGirl's Glasses - 100 points
SchoolGirl's Small Gold Chain - 500 points
SchoolGirl's Pullover - 500 points
SchoolGirl's Skirt - 500 points
SchoolGirl's Shoes - 200 points

Khaki Costume Cheat:

Green Khaki glasses - 100 points
Blue Fish GemStone - 100 points
Fish T - Shirt - 350 points
Khaki Skirt - 500 points
Stitched Khaki Shoes - 350 points

Clothes to unlock from Granny through giving her pictures:

Sailor's Hat
Halloween Dress
Halloween Shoes
Santa Claus Coat
Santa Claus Pants
Orange Hooded top with cow
Orange pants with prints
Baggy White Pants
Clown Shoes
Yellow Wig
Red Sweater with pom poms

By the way for those of you who played My Baby Girl & My Baby Boy remember how it was really hard to get stuff from granny like unlockables that you couldn't buy in the store. Well in the sequel granny makes it easy to get the unlockables.

In My Baby: First Step's go into the dressing room in the game & put these clothes & accessories on your baby all at once you need all these item's on your baby for both cheat's to work once item's are all put on your baby take pictures & you got 5 Golden teddy bear pictures all the way through out the game Pirate Costume & Santa Claus costume work's. Oh & Halloween Costume & Santa Claus outfit you have to unlock from Granny sorry.

Oh & in the dressing room you can spin the baby around on the chair to see how the outfit looks on the baby from all angles.

Happy Gaming everyone!

By the way please feel free to leave a comment if you need help with:

My Baby Boy - Beat 15 times
My Baby Girl - Beat 5 times
My Baby: First Step's - Beat 57 times
My Baby 3 & Friends ds - Beat 50 times

& I will gladly help with the above games in any way possible.

Thanks for taking the time to read my review & Happy Gaming everyone!

UPDATE: As of August 3rd, 2010 I found one other extremely cool tid bit for this game. Turn on your game & go to the record health booklet (baby's profile page in game) there will be a code for every month okay now go to mybaby-world . c o m & type in your baby's name & the code & now you unlocked the my baby 2 online photo album keep in mind you'll have to create a account then do the code. But it's so cool plus you can talk to other fellow gamers about the my baby series ds games.

BIG NEWS: My Baby 3 & friends ds is coming out Yaaaayyyyy a third part to the series. I'm really excited happy gaming everyone!

5.0 out of 5 stars My Granddaughter's Baby, December 27, 2009
By
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: My Baby First Steps (Video Game)
Last Christmas I purchased the My Baby game on DS for my then 8 year old granddaughter. She loved the game. She had other games
she played as well so it wasn't until late Fall of the following year when she completed the game. None of us realized that when
you finish the game you lose your baby. You have the ability to start over with a new one but the baby you spent so much time raising
is gone forever. She cried and cried her little eyes out when she realized her little "Sienna" was gone. She was so upset you'd think
someone physically came in and ripped "Sienna" from her arms. I wasn't happy that the designers created the game this way. They could
have at least left the baby in that last stage to enjoy forever. So this Christmas she got the new Baby's First Steps and she was
delighted. I'm sure that she will recreate "Sienna" in this new game and hopefully it will feel like she's still raising her original
baby girl. Not sure what will happen at the end of the game, but at least this time she will be a little more prepared. These are
great games for little girls and big ones alike as her adult Aunt was caught with the original game cooing at the baby and she had to
be told to give the DS back to her neice. lol The games are great early training for what is to come in raising real children. I would
recommend this game for any girl of any age but they should know from the beginning what will happen when the game ends.

4.0 out of 5 stars Big Improvement From First Game, January 2, 2010
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: My Baby First Steps (Video Game)
I recently purchased this game after having played the first one. I have to say there are some excellent improvements in the game overall. First when you start playing you enter your name, choose whether you're the mom or dad. Then you decided boy or girl or surprise, this is different from the first games where you didn't have a choice until you beat the game. Next you choose the name, and pick out the hair and eye color. The great improvement here is you can see the colors before you decide on them, something you couldn't do with the first game. Being someone of a mixed race, I wanted to be able to pick a skin color that was close to mine without taking a gamble. There are also more races/colors to choose from. The only downside is you can't view the color on the baby, you only see a color swatch. Once all that is done you're welcome into your home by the same nurse and doctor from the previous game, the house is set up differently you now have stairs for baby to climb, and it looks more like a real living room.

Just like the first game you have to progress a little bit before the rest of the house will open up to you. Your first few objects of making baby walk, say some words, climb stairs and run a few steps. After completing each pair, some part of the house will open up. You'll be able to buy clothes, dress baby, buy hairstyles(as baby grows the hair can change), change the diaper, put baby to bed, bathe and feed baby, and go out to the sandbox which replaces the stroller walk from the previous game.

There are some cool changes that will keep fans of the My Baby games happy. Now when you want baby to do something and she's not in the mood, she'll actually shake her head no! Such defiance! Instead of seeing an exclamation point when baby is upset, the outline of the baby will flash. You can also make baby laugh by tickling. If you let the game idle, meaning you set the game down and let the baby explore on her own, she start naming things she sees, like table or when the dog barks she'll say doggie! She also calls you mama or mommy depending on how old she is, when something is wrong. Letting baby sleep is a cute addition, but you aren't left with nothing to do once baby goes to sleep. Once she/he falls asleep and the screen fads, baby is awake and ready for more fun. So I still think it should copy the game "imagine babyz" and while baby sleeps you can play other mini game chores. Maybe in the next version!

---Progression---
In this game you still have to make sure your baby develops and grows well. So instead of a development progression bar they re-named it "learning" and you progress through a rainbow of crayons. Whatever objectives you have to complete are marked by small starred cubes. As she grows you see a few short clips of holidays where baby is dressed up as Santa with a present or as a bunny looking for Easter eggs, and no you can't take photos of that, you just get to watch. You can however purchase the outfits, bit by bit and take your own photos. Very Cute.

---Shop---
At the shop you can now purchase hairstyles for baby as the baby gets older. As well as tops bottoms and socks and shoes. Jewelry, hats sunglasses and other accessories even some silly items and toys. To earn money to spend at the store, take a cute picture of baby and send it to the store. The cuter the photo or rather the more coordinating the outfit the more money you'll get for the photo. You can also send photos to grandma who'll send you things as well. Grandma also sends you things as baby gets older and completes objectives.

---Bedroom---
Grandma can send you different themes for baby's room, like "savannah" where it's a jungle theme. You can swap between the different themes of the room; however it doesn't change the living room where you spend most of the time with baby.

---Dressing---
To dress baby you tap and drag the clothes to put them on baby or tap and drag to take them off. This is also where you change baby's hairstyles.

---Bedtime---
When baby gets tired you put her in her toddler crib with a book and are in charge of turning the pages of her book, but only when she tells you too! (The book with flash at first then you'll have to pay attention to your baby to know when its time) when she starts nodding off you turn the light off the same as the book, first few times it'll flash but then you're on your own to know when it's time to turn it off. If you don't turn it off quick enough, baby will wake up and you'll have to keep reading the book. You don't need to talk to her; in fact it might upset her.

---Diaper Change---
Same as the first game. You detach each side, wipe baby with cotton ball, front to back, and put on new one. I only starting playing but I don't think we ever get to teach baby to use a potty.

---Feeding----
When baby is hungry you start off in the high chair, unlike the previous game where you start off bottle feeding. When you feed baby you get to pick the main dish which is a choice of chicken, red meat, egg or fish, (no vegan baby here!) a side dish (veggies, greens, rice, and potatoes) and a dessert (mostly things in bowls but you don't have to blow on them to cool them off like the meals) After a few feedings you'll see a sippy cup. When baby is thirsty you'll have to fill it with water (by tapping on it and tapping on it again for baby to grab it). Baby can even feed herself in this new game, but only after she gets older. Baby is also less fussy when being fed, and instead bounces around and looks off at different things. If the baby wants more she'll reach for the bowl and it will fill back up.

---Bath time---
Baths are less stressful than the first my baby game. No more worrying about baby drowning she's sitting in an inner tube like chair. When you start washing her with the cloth little bubbles appear on her upper body, there's a cute elephant toy to play with to keep her happy. When you've cleaned her good the water will drain and you'll be given a shower hose to spray her off. If you are told to you can wash her hair and have to be careful not to get soap in her eyes.

---Sandbox---
The sandbox allows baby to play outside. You give her different toys to play in the sand with, if she doesn't like or want the toy she'll throw it back to you and might start to cry. There's little interaction with other things or people, and she'll start to cry when she needs your help.

I think this game is best suited toward the older child, or a child who successfully beat the first game. It's not until you reach the 21st month that you have unlocked all the mini games you can do with baby and the only way to unlock all is to complete the objectives. The only good thing is if you don't know how to complete an objective you can tap on your notebook and then an icon that will pop up the doctor again who'll explain what to do. A big improvement from the last game where you had to figure out how to do things by trial and error.

My daughter really enjoyed playing this game and got very attached to the baby that she created. However, after teaching the baby how to do all of the things the game then took the baby away at 30 months because she had already taught it everything it needed to know. My daughter was extremely disappointed and wanted to rate the game so that others could know what happens. "I don't understand how they could let you get so attached to the baby and then take it away from you," she said. Just wanted to give parents out there a "heads up" that the game is fun, but there might be tears of loss at the end.

A Kid's Review
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: My Baby First Steps (Video Game)
I bought this game last year. I was 10 then. It was fun at first. But then it got boring. You teach the kid the same thing and same way you did to your last one. Once your baby turns 2 or 3 (i forgot because I lost the game) you have to let it go. All you have left is the babys photo album and old toys and clothes. they woun't let you raies 2 kids at the same time. Then you starts all over. Pick new the babys eye color, hair color, babys's race ect. you can do alot on the game like with a real baby. Change dippers (YES U DO),feed, bathe, play if u don't the baby gets fussy. Each kids temperment is the same. There is no fussy kids or always happy smiling kids. Your baby never gets sick or hurt or dies. over all i think this is a game for little kids.6 and under. But bigger kids will probally play it too but lose intrest quick. U have to know how to read so players can't be 3 or 2.

I bought this game for my daughter for christmas. She has only played with it once, it didn't catch her attention at all. I try to played it myself and found it to be really boring and slow. When you first start the game there are not a lot of things to do. It is a really boring game will trade in as soon as I get a chance.
