Treasury without Sketchbooks?,
By David T (Phoenix, Arizona) - See all my reviews
This review is from: My Bad: A Zits Treasury (Paperback)
Apparently they skipped the sketchbooks this time and went right to a treasury. This LOOKS like newer material. About time. Been waiting a long time for new stuff about the Zits gang. usually the Treasurys say "contains strips from X and Y". This one does not.
I actually prefer it this way so I get the colors without having to wait for 2 sketchbooks to be printed. Please don't make us wait so long next time!

A compelling and fine gathering for any general library with Zits cartoon fans,

Black and white and color panels from the Zits cartoon strip offer a few new gathering of strips and images in book format, charting the ongoing and dubious interactions between Jeremy and his family and friends. From a Father's Day admonition to 'live like a teenager' to funny friends, MY BAD is a compelling and fine gathering for any general library with Zits cartoon fans.

Having raised four teenagers I love reading the Zits books. Every one of them in one way or another was Jeremy!

FUNNY,
By A&D (New York, USA) - See all my reviews

These guys (the writer and the illustrator) know the teenagers and their families, and no wonder, because both have families and have gone through the same teenage - issues like all of us.
The issues in these zit comics are accurate, timely, funny and realistic. You can easily relate to the daily world of teenagers and their parents through these cartoons. In Zits My Bad -treasure book, Jeremy gets his driver's license after quite a few very funny comic strips about a very nervous mother giving lessons. Je remy also gets into trouble once he gets his driver's license because of his love life, and thereare real consequences to Jeremy's actions and the parents do not back down. The band's van they have been fixing is also finally ready for the roadtrip.

I own all the Zit's treasuries and they have yet to disappoint me. Amazon's price beats the newsstand price any day. Highly recommended.

Great collection. I've seen some of these in the paper before, and it is neat to be reminded of them. The format of this collection allows the cartoons to be presented in larger pictures than the newspaper permits.

It Really Is a Treasury--Over a Year's Worth of Strips,
By
This review is from: My Bad: A Zits Treasury (Paperback)
As the subtitle says, MY BAD is a treasury of "Zits" comic strips. For those who don't know, "Zits" is a comic strip about a teenager named Jeremy and his parents. It humorously examines the life of teenagers and the angst that parents of teenagers feel while raising their children. Other than the strips that deal with technology and the growing environmental movement, there's really not much cultural commentary in "Zits". Though there is some social commentary and a bit of psychology, "Zits" is a comic that one reads pretty much just for the humor. The humor isn't edgy or biting, but is simpler: think "Family Circus" but with a single-child family in the post-modern world. I'm not sure of the exact dates, but the comic strips included seem to be from late 2006-mid 2008. The selection includes the strips dealing with Jeremy getting his drivers permit, Jeremy and Hector finally getting the Volkswagon van road-worthy, the introduction of Viral, and the introduction of Becker.
