I have been trying to be more environmentally aware for quite some time. A lot of the time I fall short, but I'm trying to set a better example for my children. This is a fun way to help them learn. We have been using our own shopping bags for a short time now but I think If my kids can bring their very own bag on our trips it will penetrate a bit deeper for them. This is an outstanding book with a great lesson for all of us!

For years, I have been teaching my children (8, 5, and 2) how to recycle. Lately, my wife and I are striving to use reusable grocery bags. This book is a great way to explain to our children why we are trying to stop using plastic bags.

I purchased "My Bag and Me!" to read to my daughters during Earth Hour 2008 this weekend, when it's lights out for the environment.

I am planning on reading them the book and giving them the reusable bag to get them more involved in recycling and reusing.

Children learn by watching their parents and by your example, even when you are trying to teach them and even when you're not. And if you want your child to be more earth friendly or "Green", here is a clever way to start with this big board book that is perfect for little hands and also includes a nice shopping bag for your child.

This board book is about a young boy and how he is aware of that even he can do things that can help save his world one bag at a time. The book talks about how using and bringing your own shopping bag you are saving trees and reduce plastic bags in our dumps. The book comes with a very cute Tyvek reusable shopping bag that says I Love Earth by using the letter I , a red child's colored heart and globe just like the one shown on the cover.

Our family is trying to be more aware and have been recycling bottles, cans, using our own shopping bags and it's so cute to hear my daughter say " We're going to take than home and recycle it,.... right mom!" It's something we never thought about growing up, but now need to think about how we can make our world and homes "greener" and more environmentally friendlier not just for our children but for their children as well.
