This has got to be one of the worst albums in the history of punk rock, ridiculous and sophmoric...I LOVE it! I have this record on vinyl (I'm old). I'm thrilled to see it's been preserved for posterior on CD. Combines the frivolity of early Beach Boys stuff with the agressiveness of late '80s California skate punk (a la the Dickies, Redd Cross) and a bit of B-52s and Devo type wackiness. As both a surfer and an old mohawk maniac, I can't recommend this disc highly enough.

If you accidentally bought Brittany Spears or Kylie Minogue or something instead, be sure to return it and tell 'em you really wanted the Surf Punks.

This album represented the energy and freedom of the culture and the sport of surfing, and did more than that: it helped protect surf music from obscure death by injecting it with a healthy dose of punk. 'Somebody Ripped My Stick' alone is worth the price of the entire album. Also if you read the liner notes, you get to see where Pauly Shore got most of his standup lines. <GRIN sorry Paul>

I am always reminded of my high school days when listening to this album (kinda wierd for a girl from the land-locked state of New Mexico, huh?) Just goes to show that the Surf Punks' lyrics are universal.
