This album is heads above releases by other season 8 idols (Kris Allen, Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta). Country music fits Danny's voice quite well, and his voice is absolutely incredible. Every song is good; there are no duds in this set. The songs are mostly about making a difference, being happy and affirmative, and finding joy in life, and as such, they seem to flow directly from Danny's heart, even though he did not write them. Danny could and should have a long and successful career in country music, yet his appeal definitely goes beyond that genre. This is just GOOD MUSIC. Way to go, Danny.

Danny's "My Best Days" debut is excellent! Every bit as good as the debut released by Carrie Underwood and Daughtry. Danny really has a feel for country music, and I haven't listened to much since it came out. I highly recommend this release.

This is part of a great new wave of country music. I have not listened to country with any enjoyment (save for taylor swift) since I was a kid. I hope this trend continues!

Great album, you won't be disappointed!

Love Danny Gokey and this CD. Just a little bit of country sound and GREAT meaningful lyrics. He has such a wonderful voice and outlook on life. His passion in the songs and good outlook on life is contagious!

I will preface this review by saying that I was indeed a very big Danny Gokey fan during his time on "American Idol." After Idol ended, I wasn't sure what would happen with him, but I kept my fingers crossed. When I heard that Danny had decided to do country music, I was initially disappointed, hoping that he would go the pop-soul route. But, I decided to stick by him and support him anyway. But any disappointment I had evaporated the moment I first heard his debut single, "My Best Days Are Ahead Of Me." It's a fun, upbeat song that oozes positivity and not only speaks of Gokey's claim that his best days are ahead of him (and it seems likely that he is correct), but it also has a way of encouraging listeners to believe the same of themselves without being preachy or cheesy. In fact, the entire album is so laden with soul, pop, and rock influences that I don't really even think of "My Best Days" as a country CD. The tracks "Like That's A Bad Thing," "Get Away," "Life On Ya," and "Be Somebody" fall in that same vein...fun, upbeat songs that are filled with positive energy, something that I think a lot of people need right now. "Be Somebody," in particular speaks on issues in today's society, including "street life," trying to impress people instead of being yourself, and people getting shot due to the colors of the clothes they wear. It's one of my favorite tracks on the album. "I Still Believe" speaks about believing in God even without much physical evidence, while "It's Only" is a timely ballad about societal issues and charity that, once again, gets its point across without being overbearing or preachy. "Crazy Not To" is a love ballad, that speaks about wanting to be with someone despite other people's opinions ("My friends say I'm crazy if I do / Aww but look at you, look at you, look at you / Oh I'd be crazy not to"). The highlight of the album, though, is the final track, the haunting "I Will Not Say Goodbye," which is about not wanting to say goodbye to a loved one who as died. The raw passion in Gokey's voice on this song in particular is absolutely riveting and heartwrenching, and a brilliant end to this great, albeit short, album. Now, while I am an "American Idol" fan, I have found myself mostly disappointed in most contestants' albums post-"Idol." I was completely prepared to not like Gokey's album, as I didn't like many other "Idol" albums before his. But when I first listened to the album, I was pleasantly surprised, and thrilled, that one of my all-time favorite contestants actually made an album that I cannot stop listening to, and an album that makes me feel good when I put it on. A fantastic debut album from someone who is a great guy, is incredibly nice to his fans, and seems to have a great future ahead of him.

OMG! I couldn't wait to get this CD. Since last season of American Idol, I have been a big fan. I purchased this on Tuesday (release date) and have already played it entirely at least 50 times. Every song tells a story and Danny is completely believable. Keep up the good work and I hope your next work will be something a little more "pop" related. I am not a big country fan but absolutely love this!

I was a HUGE Danny Gokey when when he was on American Idol, so I had to buy is album even though I am not a country music fan. I am so glad that I did. Danny's voice is incredible. The whole album is great. None of the songs have a heavy country twang to them, although the melodies on some of the songs are very country sounding. The lyrics tell heartfelt stories. I love the inspirational messages. I think that "I Will Not Say Goodbye" will be a big crossover hit. Danny Gokey is going to be very successful based on his debut album!

First off I would like to say that I am NOT a country music fan at all. I almost hate the style of music. I was a die hard fan of Danny during American Idol, so I had to buy his CD. I must say, he does not have that typical nasal sound that most country artists have.

You seriously can feel the passion in every single one his songs. The last song, "I will not say goodbye" is a very emotional song considering what he has gone through in his life. There is not a bad song on the whole album.

Even if you are not a country music fan, get this CD. It is pretty good. Not all of the songs have the twangy god-awful guitar sound to it.

Looking forward to seeing more from Gokey.

I was not instantly a fan of Danny Gokey, but grew to become one. I was not sure which style he would take on from watching him on American Idol-he seemed to "fit" into different categories. I am pleased that he has gone country:) It seems like a good fit for him as a person and with his voice. I like the flow of the album. There is a good balance of heart tugging songs and get down and let loose songs. And if that doesn't getcha...the stand firm in what you believe will. What a soothing voice he has! Great job on a debut CD. He will be around for a long time.

This is a great CD. He is surely very talented. Even better than when he was on Idol. What a mistake was made. He is a tremendous talented personality. Bought as a gift too.
