Absolutely Delightful!, August 5, 2008
This review is from: My Big Book of 5-minute Devotions (Paperback)
This book is a easy and delightfully written and illustrated tool for any parent with young children, looking to help guide young minds and hearts toward God, His wonderful creation, and character-building. After my kids listened intently over breakfast to short and interesting lessons about a particular animal, they took turns answering the questions for review, and reading a corresponding verse from the Bible. Approximately 40 devotionals describe some interesting facts about an animal, then a short life-lesson to be learned. Our kids still talk about how strange the platypus is, and that when it was discovered, people didn't even believe it was a real animal and they laughed at it! The devotional goes on to describe God's love for all kinds of people and we are to love and accept each other just as God made us. As a Christian home-schooling family with a love for nature and all of God's creation, we were thrilled to pick up this little gem and share it with our kids. Animals discussed include: aardvarks, ants, bats, bears, beavers, butterflies, cranes, cuckoos, dogs, dolphins, earthworms, frogs, geckos, geese, gorillas, hippopotamuses, horses, hummingbirds, kittens, ladybugs, meerkats......You get the idea.

A great book for my preschoolers!, September 3, 2009
This review is from: My Big Book of 5-minute Devotions (Paperback)
I would have given this 5 stars except for one thing... I have the "5 Minute Devotionals" and thought I would be getting all new ones in this book. Instead I got the ones I already have plus some new ones. However, this is a great book and my boys love it. (Ages 4 and 5) We ususally read a few at a time because I'm always begged for "just one more!" :) This is very well written and not only teaches your youngsters about God's love for them and how to behave like child of God, but great lessons on the animals of God's creation! Each lesson is based on a different animal and usually a behavior of that animal is focused on. Such as, a horse needs to be trained and so do we need to be trained by our parents, teachers, etc. There are about 5 questions after each story that really get the kids to listen and participate. It also lets the parent know if the child really understood or not. There is also a verse of scripture to go along with each lesson as well. We love this book and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants their little ones to grow closer to God.

Excellent devotional for young children, February 11, 2009
This review is from: My Big Book of 5-minute Devotions (Paperback)
I originally purchased this devotional to use with my 3 year old daughter as our summer bible time. She memorized every verse, and enjoyed the science facts! I now use it in my preschool (3.5-5 yrs)science class as our Bible time. The animals facts are great and they really tie in character traits that we work on all year. My students look forward to this each week. I am a picky teacher when it comes to books and literature, and this passed the test!
