i was introduced to jo by a live performance that i stumbled upon. she was awesome, so i bought her cd. i love it! she's got a great style and her voice makes me want to cry (probably partially out of jealousy!). i agree with some of the reviews that i have read that her cd can't even begin to compare with her live performance. she is just so gosh darn cute live! however, i find her music wonderful and very enjoyable to listen to. it is very clear and pristine, and the cd DOES capture that. i can't wait for the new album!!!

Jo Serrapere is, quite simply, the best shouldn't-be-kept musical secret out there....Any day now, the greater world will wake up and discover her, but until then, do yourself a favor and purchase this CD. She has the clearest, cleanest, most beautiful voice this side of, well, heaven....If the angels sing, folks, this is what they sound like. From her yearning-burning rendition of "CC Rider" to her toe-tappingly flirtatious "You Want to Be With Me" and every place in between, this is a collection of music you can't afford to miss, delivered by a voice once heard, never to be forgotten.

Bottom line? If I'm shipped off to a tropical island and can only bring one CD? Without question, this is the one I'd bring.

I'm from Texas so haven't seen Ms. Serrapere perform, so can't say how this CD compares to a live show. Her unique voice, delightful lyrics and lively guitar work make My Blue Heaven my favorite new CD. "You Wanna Get With Me" is worth the price of the CD by itself.

After seeing two dynamite performances by Jo Serrepere and The Hot Tail Band at the 1999 GrassRoots Festival in Trumansburg, NY, I couldn't wait to pick up her CD. However, despite some excellent moments, I feel that this disc fails to capture the infectious charm and energy this group exudes onstage. She's an outstanding performer with a great band, but listening to this effort leaves me wanting more. The majority of the album is very spare and mournful, as opposed to the uplifting experience of seeing them live. Their second CD is due soon, which I still have high hopes for.

I agree with the last review, the CD cannot even compare to the Live performance. Her feeling and energy simply cant be put on a disc. I produce a monthly Cabaret concert, and have had Jo here twice already, and simply cant get enough. But I recently purchased the CD, hoping to capture the same feeling. A great sack o' tunes here, but all of my favorites are missing... Especially "nobody's business" Jo- Put that one on a future CD and I'll buy a million of 'em!!!!

a great cd. her voice cuts through you on the some of the tracks though, so not for listening everywhere, but a great cd nonetheless.

edit. i've seen her live 10 or so times, go out of your way, if you have the chance to see her.

Jo Serrapere was introduced to me when I was 16 by my friends mom. We saw her in a cafe in Ann Arbor, and I bought her CD, My Blue Heaven, instantly. My friend and I sat down and spoke with Jo, and told her how much we loved her stage presence as well as her performance. 8 years later, My Blue Heaven is still one of my favorite CD's. I'm devestated that I misplaced mine, so I am currently looking to replace it. By far one of the best CD's made, both by Jo Serrapere AND in general. I enjoyed every song on the CD, I think she has an amazing voice, and I truly think she is a gem that needs to be discovered on a wider basis.
