This is Screeching Weasel at their best. If you're buying a Screeching Weasel album for the first time go for this one. It is so good and you never get sick of it. Ben sounds great. Every song is a classic. Buy this CD!

If I want to do something right, I gotta do it myself,

From the opening chords of this pop-punk blueprint, it is very clear that Screeching Weasel went through some changes during their brief hiatus after BoogadaBoogadaBoogada. Gone is the same old, same old pseudo-hardcore blasts that were all over their first two Lps. In its stead, is a bouncy, melodic, keyboard accented sing a long that lasts for all of its 30 minute glory.
But don't let the infectious melodies fool you, this isn't all bubble gum pop. Sure, there are fractured love songs like Guest List, Veronica Hates Me and Making You Cry, but there are also some cerebral oriented lyrics in here too. Science of Myth explores the relative merits of Religion and Science, Slogans plays like an outsider's national anthem, and My Brain Hurts is designed for anyone with a D.I.Y. attitude. This album invented a genre that gave birth to many uninteresting imitators, but this, the original, is proof that pop-punk can't be written off as mindless drivel for the retarded. If you don't get it, you don't get it, and I say "Why don't you go away?"

An Essential Album,

This is quite simply a masterpiece. It's pretty close to a perfect punk album, and the only thing that could improve it would be more songs. I have every Screeching Weasel song in one form or another, but this is one CD that I can listen to over and over and it always makes me feel awesome. I consider it an absolutely essential record for anyone who likes punk music.

My Brain hurts captures Screeching Weasel during some of their finest moments. Melodic and slightly more raw than their ultimate release (Anthem for a New Tomorrow), My Brain Hurts is chock full of amazing songs. Ben Weasel is one of (if not my all time) favorite punk rock song writers and the lyrics on this disk are inspired. Check it out!

Possibly the best pop punk album of the nineties,

Five star reviews are given way too loosely on Amazon, but this album definitely deserves it. My Brain Hurts is an underapreciated gem. The production is very low-fi, the songs aren't about any grand social issues, and I wouldn't change a thing.

More punk than pop,

This and Anthem are probably the best albums from SW all of the songs are awesome and for once they didnt put a bunch of filler songs. This is probably their shortest album with only 14 songs but it has to be their tightest and most consistent.best songs: "making you cry", "guest list", "veronica hates me", "science of myth", and "my brain hurts". get this is if you like bands like Mr T. experience, Queers, Squirtgun, descendents or ramones.

One of my favorite albums of all time,

I would have to say that is one of my top ten favorite albums of all time, maybe that's because this is the album that got me into Screeching Weasel. If you are looking for REAL pop punk (where it's more punk than pop) get this is CD. Every song is wonderful! Hell, some of them even make you think, how'd that happen? So if you are new to Screeching Weasel start with this cd for sure. Some of my favorite tracks are: Teenage Freak Show, The Science of myth (my personal favorite on the CD), what we hate, and the great cover of "I can see clearly". Oh hell, this whole CD is awesome; there is no point in pointing out just a few. In short this CD is AWSOME, and if your collection of pop punk only consist of bands like Blink 182, MxPx, New Found Glory, get this cd and it will change your view on pop punk forever, but don't get me wrong I still love bands like Blink and MxPx, it's just I found something that seems more real, and more punk than pop. This CD alone got me into bands like Mr. T. Experience, and The Queers. So all I have left to say is this cd kicks ...! It's worth selling your soul for; ok maybe it's not THAT good, but pretty close.

This is by far the best Screeching Weasel album released. Every song is a terrific example of melodic punk at its best.
