Kusumoto has written a highly interesting account of the turbulent times through which he has lived--his youth in Korea where his parents resided during the years when that country was a Japanese colony; his return to Japan following World War II and his years in college there during the period of postwar U.S. occupation; and the contribution he has made, as president of the Minolta Corporation, to Japan's amazing postwar economic recovery. Interspersed throughout are his thoughts on Japanese business practices and social customs; world trade; the future of the American economy; and other topics of broader interest. Written with a deep understanding of both the countries with which he has been so intimately involved, this transcends the genre of business biography to become a moving personal and cultural document.
