5.0 out of 5 stars Drama Is Her Middle Name
My Brother Is A Baller follows the life of Sheri Carmichael. You would think with her brother Todd being drafted into the NBA straight out of high school, life for Sheri would be great-wrong.

Sheri is a drama magnet. She struggles with being in Todd's shadow and dealing with people trying to be her friend only because of her superstar NBA brother. Once Sheri...

My Brother Is A Baller by Dorrie Williams-Wheeler, made me think of the old saying you can take the girl out of the hood, but you cannot take the hood out of the girl. Another one is, when you start doing the necessary things to have a better life your friends will start thinking you think you are better than them, and they will do whatever it takes to keep you just like them.

Sheri Carmichael is overshadowed by her brother, Todd, who is drafted into the NBA. Things were going fine, until the night Sheri and her mother, Felicia, were robbed. Todd and Felicia decide that it would be best to leave the old neighborhood. None of the changes of her lifestyle is her choice, but Sheri is caught up in trying to keep her old friends in her new surroundings, while trying to make new friendships. It is not as easy as she thought. Did her friends want to be her friend because they liked Sheri as a person, or due to Todd being in the NBA? Who is playing Sheri for a fool?

The characters are well developed. There is a lot of drama which kept me turning the pages quickly. However, the editing is poor and distracting at times. One thing that made me have to flip back through the pages was a character's name that changed midway through the book. Overall My Brother Is A Baller is a good read, and I recommend it to readers that like drama.

Once Sheri gets out of one situation, she finds herself in more drama.

My Brother Is A Baller is a fast paced and entertaining read. It will have you wanting to shake some sense into Sheri. Sheri makes some of the same unwise decisions that a lot of young folks make. She thinks she knows it all but in the end, Sheri does learn quite a few valuable lessons.

Friendships and relationships will be tested in between the pages of Dorrie Williams Wheeler's My Brother Is A Baller. Its the type of book where both adults and teens can enjoy.
