5.0 out of 5 stars A Revival of One of the Best, February 8, 2002

This review is from: My Catholic Faith (Hardcover)
My Catholic Faith was one of the treasures of my youth. The book belonged to my altar boy brothers, and so when I left home, and the Church was shrouded in modernism, I was sure I would not see that fine book again. I was pleased to see it in print once again, beautifully bound and illustrated. Because Bishop Morrow's book has not been "updated," the illustrations are a wonderful historical reference to the splendor of the Universal Church in all places.

I understood and appreciated this book at age ten. I understand and appreciate it still more as I near fifty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Treasure Trove, May 24, 2000
Catechism's seem to overwhelm most people don't they? Very rarely do they invite the reader to indulge in it from cover to cover--more often times, you pick up a Catechism and thumb through--seeking a specific reference. However, this one is "comfortable". Not simplistic by any measure, but friendly and beautiful! I would definately add this to my collection. If there's a non-Catholic in your life asking for scriptural references to our beliefs...this is a treasure trove of insight for them. It will definately leave them scratching their heads. The artwork is an added touch of inspiration too!

5.0 out of 5 stars terrific, May 21, 1999
By A Customer
What a breath of fresh air this book is! In a series of excellent lessons with inspiring art work, the author presents the basic lessons of the catholic faith in a clear and logical presentation. He starts with why we are here. Who God is and his infinite perfections. How to attend mass and go to confession. Why Catholics should pray the rosary everyday, the nature of heaven, purgatory and hell and a ton of other excellent information. An outstanding book, well worth the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tremendous kid-commute catechism tool!, June 8, 2005
By
Mataka (Seattle, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: My Catholic Faith (Hardcover)
Timelessly orthodox Catholic faith, beautifully expressed. One can go into more detail by reading everything, or move faster through just the larger type in some sections. Good-sized illustrations are designed to distill abstract concepts into memorable impressions that can stick in a reader's mind.

For the past year, we've kept our copy in the back seat of the car. I ask my sons, who are 10 and 13, to read aloud from it several times a week during short regular commutes we make. I have never heard a groan! Amazing! We all freely interrupt the reading with comments and discussion.

Everybody's lives are so busy now it's hard to keep any kind of regular schedule of teaching our children their Catholic faith (as we vowed to do upon Catholic marriage). I highly recommend this way of sharing the Faith with preteens and older kids especially.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Guide to Jesus Christ's Catholic Church, May 11, 2000
By A Customer
This book is what brought me back to the Faith and what helps to sustain me in it. I cannot begin to extol the virtues of this book. It is an invaluable resource. "My Catholic Faith" by Bishop Morrow is a concise catechism and easy enough for a child to read and understand. Every Catholic should have a copy of this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid doctrinal text fully supported by the Magisterium, November 9, 1999
Startled by the somewhat incoherent commentary of the first reviewer, I post to refute his quite erroneous view of this text. This is a solidly Roman Catholic, doctrinally sound text in every word on every page, in those matters which are related to faith and morals. While the Church has changed some of the mutable rituals and practices of the past, the commentary on those things changed are of great historical interest and are preserved in this book as indications of the past reverential practices of the faithful. The wonderful art work on many of the pages is a special treasure for students of their faith and especially for children who are delighted by such beautiful representations. Vatican II did not change as much as some dissident American Catholics would like to think. This book is an accurate representation in every respect of what the Roman Catholic Church teaches about salvation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magnificent! Bring back the Catholicism of the ages!, December 27, 1999
This book is doctrinally sound and accurate in addressing everything that is taught by the Holy Roman Catholic Church. Originally printed before the Second Vatican Council, it is a wonderful supplement to those wishing the learn the COMPLETENESS of Catholic Dogma. Artwork is superb. This book will give an appreciation for 2000 years of Church teaching and History, in spite of what has happened in the last 30+ years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hands down, the best, March 31, 2008
This review is from: My Catholic Faith (Hardcover)
This book is the first book that I recommend to anyone interested in learning about the Catholic faith. I use it myself as a Catholic and I have recommended it to non-Catholics, those interested in becoming Catholic, or Catholics who just want to know their faith better. It contains sound doctrine. Nothing modernistic or liberal, just the truth of the faith and what a true Catholic must know and believe. It is an incredible resource and wealth of the true faith. Every Catholic home should have this and every Catholic should read it to strengthen their faith.

Every person that I have recommended this book to has treasured it.

He said he now understands what Cathoics believe and he believes, too! He said this book is a "treasure" which is true. I recommend it to anyone who wants to know about the Catholic Faith. It is easy to read and has wonderful illustrations.
