I was married seven years to my first she passed away and the last Christmas Music she wanted to listen to was Anne Murray,a lot of the same songs are on this collecetion she loved to listen.I purchased this title because of those memories of my first wife.

I have a decided preference for choral versions of Christmas carols, whether we are talking the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, the Ray Conniff Singers, or the Chipmunks. But if there is one seasonal soloist I always work into the music rotation while trimming the tree or wrapping the presents it is the Canadian songbird, Anne Murray. "My Christmas Favorites" is an extremely sparse collection, with only ten tracks, but it is still a choice selection of treats. If you are looking for a reason to add this one to your Christmas collection when you already have Murray's superb 2001 2-CD collection "What a Wonderful Christmas," there are two of them: "Christmas Song" and "White Christmas." Simply because those are not included on the other obviously superior collection. Overall, "My Christmas Favorites" does tip a bit more toward contemporary secular songs that traditional religious hymns and carols, but that does not especially matter since Murray is equally adept at either type of Christmas music.

A good rule of thumb for a Christmas album--even a budgetline release--is to throw in holiday surprises along with the old standards. Anne Murray's MY CHRISTMAS FAVORITES may be quite literally that; old favorites personally selected by Anne herself. But even then you could still have a relatively new Christmas favorite as well. I wouldn't mind hearing Annie tackle something like Amy Grant's "Breath of Heaven," for instance.

Since it is a budget release, I'm not complaining about the album's brevity. Ten songs is reasonable if the price is the same. But the arrangements could have been a bit more inventive. The choral arrangements are just SOOOO Mitch Miller. Anne has always been better served by straightforward, simple arrangements that match her own emotionally direct (but never ornate) vocal delivery.

Worth a listen--and the price is right. But it would be nice to hear Anne include a few more contemporary numbers on a Christmas set.

This CD was a favorite amongst our family growing up. But unfortunately we only had it on cassette tape. This year I found it on CD. The cost was great and it arrived here in no time.

I grew up listening to this lovely, mellow (back then) tape. The tape died and I spend a very long time waiting for it to be converted to CD for my listening pleasure!!!! For me, it's a family classic and a must have to the Holiday Season! :)

Anne Murray's warm voice makes this one of my very favorite CDs. It has a great selection of some of my favorite Christmas songs.

Great condition when it arrived and fast service. She has the voice of an angel.
