Book Description

March 19, 2010 My Cool
A weekend away in a stylish caravan provides the perfect antidote to 21st-century living, and more and more people are now breathing fresh "retro" vibes into the humble recreational vehicle. Old-style campers also tap into the nostalgia/retro market and the desire for a simpler lifestyle. My Cool Caravan aims to inspire a new generation of camper owners and provide an idiosyncratic sourcebook for the design conscious. The inspiration for the styling can come from many different sources—this book looks at 30 styled campers in detail, covering themes such as Country Cottage, Rustic, Romany, Funky 1970s, Airstream, Trailer Park Treasures, and Recycled.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great layout, great images, great notes. May 19, 2010
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
Lewis, Haddon, and Walker's book was purchased largely on impulse based on the cover, since there weren't any posted reviews. I'm extremely pleased to say that the book has exceeded my expectations. Often trailer books neglect to pay proper attention to interiors. I'm happy to say that that is not the case with this book. Each trailer has at least one exterior photograph, and multiple interior shots, each showcasing the owner's aesthetic. The title promises "an inspirational guide to retro-style caravans," and that is certainly what it delivers. Those who own travel trailers will feel inspired to renovate them, and those who don't will feel compelled to find one.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Cool Caravan - Buy it! December 11, 2010
By Kathryn
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
If you are trying to choose just one book about Vintage Travel Trailers (out of the myriad masterpieces available) CHOOSE THIS ONE!

Writers are instructed to "show, don't tell." Jane and Chris not only show, they SHARE. These empathetic writers have constructed a guide to inspire even a casual onlooker of the grassroots, vintage travel trailer phenomenon sweeping both their own continent and "the states."

They totally "get" the passion of rediscovering a gentler lifestyle for those of us who have been overwhelmed by technology and the constant rush toward all things disposable, even relationships. Like the gypsy caravan of old - they let you travel your own world; like a good book - they allow you to fly on the wings of your imagination; and like loving arms - they provide you with a sanctuary tailored specifically for you, by you.

You will drool unabashedly as you enter caravan after caravan via the glorious photographs. Just as you think you've "got it" (the design inspiration for your own project), you enter yet another nostalgic tribute to simpler times, sending yourself reeling in a joyful and frenetic delirium of inspiration. These two writers should be nominated for a Nobel Prize in "writing to inspire."

I cannot thank Jane and Chris enough for putting together this masterpiece and making it available FOR ME. I have already given two copies away and told countless others to order it. My Cool Caravan is my new wish book.

No kidding--you absolutely will NOT be disappointed.

P.S- For every woman, "Sisters on the Fly" should be your next purchase!
